I bought these in S which is rated 30-31, my typical short and pant waist range. When I'm wearing something properly tailored, I'm closer to 29. These fit around the waist like those tailored pants, so no room for tucking layers or anything. Seem solid otherwise...

Great ski pants-consider a size up

Really want to love these pants, and mostly do with one hitch. I'm solidly a 34-36 in every pair of jeans I wear, 35 in brands that do mid-sizes. I got the L, rated for 34-36 and they are juuust big enough. If I hadn't got these on clearance I would've returned for an XL. Sorry if TMI , but it sure seems that the fly is cut too high and short, these are kind of a pain to use the restroom in (maybe would be better if I had gotten an XL, but seems to be how they're cut). Otherwise, as always with Marmot, materials and build quality are top notch, waterproofing in our PNW rainy skiing has been pretty solid with only a little bit of damp through in the seat after 4 hours on a mixed rain and wet snow day. The light insulation is perfect for resort skiing in our mild (25-35 degrees) winters. And ideally all the zippers would waterproof, not just the front pockets.
