Why We Like The Marmot Hype Down Hooded Jacket

Whether we're belaying our buds between climbs or simply trying to survive our morning commute, the Marmot Hype Hooded Jacket will accompany us during the adventure. Lightweight and durable Pertex Quantum outer fabric is windproof and water-resistant, offering us cozy protection—no matter the weather. The jacket's 800-fill down keeps us toasty when we're stopping for a trail-side break or setting up camp for the night, and it's packable enough to stash in its pocket when it's our time to climb. Zippered hand pockets keep gear and valuables secure, and elastic-bound cuffs, hem, and hood seal out wind to prevent heat loss.

low quality jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted to like it, but every time I wear the jacket, bits of down within the Marmot Hype jacket will cover and stick my mid layer shirt/ sweater under the jacket. The jacket is thin, with much less down insulation than other jackets, and the zipper is the smallest most fragile zipper possible. It is the smallest-scale zipper I've ever seen and constantly gets stuck. This poorly designed jacket will probably not last long. How on earth it passed for Marmot quality, is a mystery.

Liked it but the quality is not marmot standard

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I first.loved this jacket. Worm and packable. It is good for hiking and traveling. I am a minimalist. However. A few weeks later, I noticed the filing kept oozing out . There was no tear. Later, there was a big chunk of filling coming out inside the sleeve. Again, no tear. I think this is due to the poor quality of the lining. Had to return.

Men's Hype Down Hoody

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this jacket on sale and with additional discount and it was the best value I could find for 800-down fill power jacket. It's also a plus that it has Pertex Quantum as outer shell/fabric which seems more durable than other fabrics for similar down jackets. I wanted a hood for the extra warmth but wish hood had drawstring.

Pertex down hoody

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great super light down hoody. The materials appear to me to be very high quality. Over a heavy fleece I was very warm in the mid 30s. I only wish that the collar didn't come up quite so high under the china when the jacket is zipped.

It's in the name: All Hype

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had two of these through the winter and can compare them to the highlander down jacket also made by Marmot. My main complaint is that it is not nearly as warm as the Highlander, the Hype constantly loses feathers as they poke through the significantly thinner shell fabric. The internal glove/hat holders are nice but I miss the chest pocket of the Highlander. I think the highlander is best below 40F, where the Hype is best above 40F. To be honest, I am only warm in this jacket with a base layer on a sunny day. Very surprising as due to price and quality I thought it would be an alternative to a Ghost Whisperer or the like. It seems geared towards being a mid layer. I say if you are looking for an insulating outer layer, go with Highlander, if you want an insulating mid layer this is okay. Last thing worth noting is the durability is worrisome. If feathers are creating holes and poking through (and seam leaking), I can't imagine wearing this in the backcountry at all. 5' 10", 185lbs, muscular build, bought Large. Correct fit. Under layers need to be tight to skin as a loose fleece will pinch in the armpits. Regardless, I own a lot of marmot gear and will always recommend them. This product is the only one I wouldn't whole-heartedly endorse without some explanation.

Awesome Fit!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was not sure how I would like the fit. When i received it, it was a great fit and style! So much I had to purchase one for my son and it became his favorite as well. The hoody is not too hot where it makes your arms sweat. The hoody is pretty decent in light rain as well. Overall recommend it.

Warm and super light down jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My very first down jacket and love it! It's super light yet warm and blocks the wind excellently. Another Marmot product added to my gears.
