    Birds of a feather.

Snowboarder turned skier, you might not be successfully blending in with your new peers, but the synthetic down of the Men's Marmot Featherless Hooded Jacket does a damn-near perfect imitation. Marmot teamed up with 3M and their Thinsulate technology to scientifically engineer the first synthetic insulation with the ability to mimic 700-fill power down. Thanks to a loose fill, this jacket disguises itself so perfectly that you'll forget what it really is as you're stuffing it into its own inner stuff pocket. Its soft, supple warmth will keep you warm on the long lift-ride, no matter how wet the snow, where you'll find you can bond with others at the resort regardless of what's under your feet or in your jacket.

    • Synthetic down puffy for wet-weather warmth
    • Featherless insulation mimics loft and warmth of down
    • Packs down as easily as its feathered cousin
    • Elastic cuffs and drawcord hem for secure active fit
    • Item #MAR017R

Good for Fall & Spring too!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 170lbs

This is a good jacket for deep winters or people like me who feel cold easily even in Fall and Spring weathers. It is light too. 4 * because the fit is not the best. It does make you look puffed up and they only have it in ‘regular’ fit option.

    Two Thumbs Up

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 200lbs

I've been looking for a synthetic puffy that doesn't break the bank while still being versatile and this one hit the spot for me. The arms a little on the baggier and longer side which works for me and the cut is also a little shorter on the torso. Overall it fits my body type well, keeps me warm and is super pack-able. Would recommend this for sure.

    Perfect Amount of Insulation

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 175lbs

This jacket has quickly become my favorite medium weight insulation piece. I have found it to be warmer than many other jackets that fall under the same design structure while still maintaining a good weight to packability ratio. It is lofty without looking like the Michelin man, warm without being suffocating and fits well enough to be used as either an outer or layering piece. The synthetic insulation also really does feel like lofted down compared to other synthetic jackets. I also really like the soft elastic cuffs at the sleeve and hood. If you are looking for one jacket to fill in a large array of niches the Marmot Featherless is a great pick. Whether in town or on the trail this jacket provides. The sleeve length and torso length also work well for me being tall and skinny.

    I'm into it!

I own a handful of midweight insulation layers including a TNF Thermoball, MHW Ghost Whisperer Down and Patagonia nano-air. In terms of warmth, this one is comparable or better than all of those. There's plenty of insulation to wear it as an outer, casual piece on most days or as a mid-layer for freezing days on the mountain. It doesn't pack quite as small as the Ghost Whisperer, but synthetic insulation has other benefits to give it an edge.
This jacket is a little shorter than those other three jackets and not quite as slim. I'm 5'6" with broad shoulders and went with a Small in the Featherless compared to M in the other jackets. If you're in between sizes or worried about it being too big, size down!

    Nice jacket

This is just a quick review for those considering picking this jacket up. Bought it to fill heavier jacket gap in the winter wardrobe. Won't comment on warmth and durability since it is too early for that. Fit wise, I am 5'6" and the small fits well. I almost wish the hem was one inch longer, but than it wouldn't look as good. Wrist elastic is a bit looser than I would like as well, but when layered it won't matter. Pockets are nice, and what's best about it is that it doesn't have feathers poking through.
