    As warm as it claims

    Familiarity:I've used it several times

This bag was absolutely fantastic. I run pretty cold and therefore get cold quickly and sometimes wake up from being cold. With this bag I used it with a silk liner and bivy sack in snowy conditions with a low of about 12 I was sleeping with no socks and one layer, it kept me warm throughout the night. These conditions stayed consistent for seven nights. One thing I would've changed for the bag is the little zipper on the right side (the bag opened from the left) and I felt that the zipper was leading a little cold air in.

Five stars. A golden fortress of warmth and comfort. Totally waterproof; you'll never have to worry about the ice that's raining on you from the tent ceiling. Easy enough to zip/unzip without snags, even with gloves on. Burlier material inside the footbox so your booties don't rub holes in it. The tiny electronics pocket won't fit even the smallest gps or smartphone, and could be larger. Still, this is the best of the best winter/expedition bag.

    Best Winter Sleeping Bag

    Familiarity:I've used it several times

Can't go wrong with this one. I sleep super cold, and a lot of the time I don't have the time to cook a warm dinner before crawling into the tent. This sleeping bag has made winter camping a joy, and it looks like it will last many more years. I have tried a bunch of sleeping bags and the attention to detail really stands out on this one... Down filled draft collar, zipper guards that actually work, a footbox that has a tougher material so you can stick your boots in the bottom to dry without worry, the list goes on. I'm never cold in this bag, and the waterproof shell (not seam taped, but enough to keep tent condensation from getting the down wet) is a must-have for multi-day trips.

    Best Gift Ever

    Familiarity:I've used it several times

I sleep cold. Always. This bag has been comfortable at 16,500 on Kilimanjaro (probably ~0 degrees), winter camping in Utah, and for gratuitous fall camping when I just want to be extra warm - I have a western mountaineering 20 degree bag and I will often choose this bag over that one just for extra comfort. This bag packs fairly small for what it is, but if backpacking it will take up a good portion of your pack space (1/3-1/2 depending on pack size), but it is essential for sleeping comfortably in cold weather, so I always make room. The bag itself is pretty roomy for a mummy bag - allows for some movement, even with extra layers on. I really enjoy the extra warm foot box construction, which definitely helps keep the feet warm on cold nights. Ive spent many a winter night in my 10-20 degree down bags in temps no lower than 20 degrees, with a bag liner, and have still been cold. In comparison, with this bag I can sleep in similar conditions without needing extra layers of clothing or liners. Personally haven't used it in conditions colder than 0 degrees, but would use this over a zero degree bag at that temp (extra stuff space, weight and all) no questions asked.

    Tried 5, picked 1

Familiarity:I returned this product before using it

Okay, so my review is based solely on "fit" for a tall guy. I bought five winter sleeping bags to test- feel, comfort and dimensions and how durable the materials "felt". In the end I kept only 1 (Marmot CWM). As I sent the 4 others back and did not try them in actual sleeping situations, I cannot comment as to their performance in cold weather- only fit and initial comfort for a 6'6" guy who weighs 215 lbs. I had 2 Marmot bags of the 5 and for overall feel and comfort I liked them best. I didn't go with this one because it had several down feathers in it and I was worried that it might have a small opening somewhere and would continue to leak. However, in terms of general comfort, I don't think you can go wrong with this bag. By the way- the bag looks more like a yellowish green than it was yellow.
