Life's about balance.

Finding the sweet spot between living space, weight, and weather protection is about as easy as going backpacking in bare feet, but Marmot's Catalyst 3-Person 3-Season Tent might just make striking that perfect balance pretty simple. It has room for three, nearly four feet of headroom, and all the storm-beating design you'd expect from Marmot, so you can ride out rugged storms in surprising comfort while other campers are hightailing it for home. Marmot coated both the fly and floor with waterproof polyurethane and taped the seams to prevent wind-driven moisture from finding its way in, and included a footprint for extra protection from rough ground and standing water.

The Catalyst isn't a foul-weather-only shelter, though. With walls made from no-see-um mesh, it's a great place to spend nights when the skies are clear and temperatures are mild, and it also has two large D-shaped doors for easy entry and maximum ventilation. When the fly's on, each door is complemented by a spacious and waterproof vestibule. HD Velocity aluminum poles stand up to stormy nights and years of use, and the included Lamp Shade illumination pocket turns your headlamp's glare into a gentle glow, so spending storm-bound days and casual nights holed up is a more pleasant experience.

I returned this product before using it

Nice tent, very easy to set up, however it would make a better 2+ person tent than a 3 person. I measure 60" of actual width, not enough for 3 sleeping pads. Bummer.

This is an incredible tent. 3 simple poles to setup, comes with a footprint and a removable cover as well so you can see through the mesh and look at the stars if it’s nice and warm out at night. Under 5 lbs. can’t wait to use it in the next upcoming weeks

Love this tent. Love this brand.

I've used it several times

I bought this tent three years after I bought the Limelight 2 person. My daughter has decided to give camping a go and we needed a little more space. It sets up super fast and easy. Less than 10 minutes....Packs light and everything fits in the bag. I always go up a person in size but we can easily store all our gear and camp 2 ppl comfortably. I love the value of this tent. You get top of the line bells and whistles at a great price.

Thanks for the review Jen, glad you're digging the tent!

A tent for 2 people and 2 dogs

My husband and I got this tent because we needed the extra space on our backpacking expeditions for our two medium sized dogs. It packs down small and is easy to put up! With us and the dogs, there is still just enough room for all our gear!

Attention ALL Campers

This tent will rock your world, whether that would be 5 feet from your car or 17 miles out in the wilderness. Weighing in at 5lbs 9oz's, this tent was not too heavy for my smaller frame to carry in a pack for 32 miles in 2.5 days. The Catalyst kept me warm and dry during an unexpected wind and snow storm on a late summer trip in the Wind River Range. I was even able to make a hot meal on my Jetboil mini mo in the vestibule with howling winds and snow around me. The 3 person tent was perfect for 2 people and an extra snuggly pitbull along with a few dry bags (I kept the packs tucked away in the vestibule). Make this tent the CATALYST to your next epic adventure! Reach out to me directly with any questions!

how does tent compare to the limelight 3p tent by marmont? I cant decide

Just the neatest tent you ever saw

I've wanted a tent for awhile now that will allow me to move about a little more than the coffin I use for backpacking. The Catalyst not only gives me more room, but also has all the bells and whistles you come to expect from Marmot's top-of-the-line tents. You've got to love the dual doors, and I'd put Marmot's fly's up against anyone in the biz!

Hey Mark! Thanks for the hip review!

How much does this tent weigh? Love you, Backcountry, but wish you were more consistent about posting product specs!
