Why We Like The Marmot Bolt UL Tent: 2-Person 3-Season

With the Marmot Bolt 2-Person 3-Season Tent, we get the luxury of a hotel bedroom, but with a more lightweight feel in our pack. As one of Marmot's lightest backpacking tents, the Bolt allows us to maximize the space provided without having to compromise our preference for comfort when we're on the trail. The zonal, prebent construction is designed so it creates vertical walls, more headroom, and more livable space. The single D-shaped door provides easy entry and exit, and it serves as the gear vestibule when we hunker down for the night.

10 days in the Brooks Range

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the Bolt after owning a Stormlite 2 for many years, which has been bombproof, but was looking to shave some weight and space while treating myself to something nice. I took the Bolt on our 10 day packrafting trip down the North Fork of the Koyukuk River. Hail, thunderstorms, mosquito blitzkreigs, and hypothermic fingers- this tent stayed dry, vented very well, kept out the bugs and was a breeze to setup in even the worst conditions. Excellent lightweight double wall setup.

Meh

Design flaw poles unclip at top easily. Wind movement and noise seems higher than expected.

Ultralight solo tent

I was looking for a tent that to use when on a week-long hike by myself. First of all the tent had to be light. Marmot Bolt UL 2P is 1100 grams with the added guy lines and stakes to make it even more stable. I did not want super fancy and flimsy materials, the Bolt's silpoly is perfect and seems durable enough. Also it had to have enough room for me. The Bolt UL 2P seemed to fulfill my requirements and wasn't too expensive either so I decided to give it a shot. I've slept now 10 nights in it in varying conditions. Pros: - ultra light - stable enough in wind (do position the tent correctly though and add extra guylines - the guyout points are there already, just lines missing) - double-wall - well ventilated (never saw condension) - silpoly doesn't sag and is strong enough - did I mention it's very light? Cons: - narrow for 2 people - one entrance (although I wanted a single-entrance in order to keep weight down) - to get a taut pitch you need to pay attention

Great light tent

Great lightweight tent with enough room for me and my gear. It was super easy to set up and pack. I’ve used it a few times now. The door location may be a problem if you really tried to sleep with 2 people in the tent, but not a deal breaker.

Perfect UL moto tent

Bought this for a two night moto trip and I’m glad I did! Sets up really quick and easy and feels very durable while being extremely lightweight. I camped on top of Max Patch with some mild wind and it was solid. I think it would be doable for two people, but tight. Would probably want 2x 20 inch max width sleeping pads to fit side by side. For a solo camper with a lot of gear this tent is perfect, I fit all my riding gear inside with my 25 inch width pad and then kept a few items in the vestibule area. It came with some nice lightweight stakes which was a pleasant surprise, but only 6 instead of the 7 that are required to fully stake it out. I also bought the matching footprint which saves some time during setup since it has stake out cords that match up with the tent.

Great lightweight backpacking/moto camping tent!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this for motorcycle camping and backpacking so compact and light weight are important. Super fast/easy to set up and good quality. Still getting use to the end door because it is a little more difficult to crawl out of rather than rotate out of a side door.

Very light and packs well

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've owned this tent for about a year now and I love hope light it is; definitely a backpack tent. Fits two people well with a decent sized vestibule large enough for packs and shoes. I also appreciate the thoughtfulness to include ceiling pockets for hanging lights and all the pockets on the inside of the tent. I definitely recommend the bolt two person tent for those looking to save weight!

Awesome Backpacking Tent

I have only used this tent a few times, but I love how easy it is to put together and how light/small it packs down to. I used it once in great weather as well as one night with high winds/rain/hail. The tent was sturdy the whole night, and performed perfectly under the less than ideal weather. I was worried about it staying warm because the tent is mostly mesh, but with the rainfly on it stayed warm without any drafts even with high winds. It is pretty tight for two average sized people, we managed to squeeze two people and a dog in the tent and had no extra room.
