Ashbury PreCip Eco Jacket
Big-city style meets active, outdoor performance in the Marmot Ashbury PreCip Eco Jacket. And while it's ready to hit the streets in style, this jacket still has the waterproofing, breathability, and durability you'll want through soaking commutes and heavy downpours. The PFC-free NanoPro recycled nylon face fabric is sturdier and more durable than ever and doesn't feel stiff, thanks to its patented dry-touch finish, while added rain protection comes from adjusting the cuffs and pulling in the drawcord at the hood. A longer length provides extra coverage while the two-way zipper prevents the jacket from bunching up while seated.

The unique combination of pockets with two-tone colorway is what drew me in. I was in search for one shell capable of handling my spirited rucks around the state with the looks to help me blend in around town afterwards. Enter the Marmot Ashbury!
My first impression was just how incredibly lightweight it is. I have running jackets that are heavier than this! But I also run in the winter, so.... But thanks to the regular fit, this thing wears very well over casual layers on cold, wet, rainy mornings as it does over thinner technical layers without feeling like a Sear's poncho. In fact, I've experienced no pinching or binding in the arm pits as I have with other technical shells due to my athletic build. Adoring fans have also remarked about the jacket's unique looks.
This weekend I put it through its paces on a cold and drizzly ruck through Uwharrie National Forest without a single issue. It breathed so well I stayed focused on the trail and never had to fuss with my shell. My hip belt lay right over the front pockets rendering them unusable, but it certainly wasn't a deal breaker. The two chest pockets were enough for what I needed. I never felt any pulling, bunching, or binding under my ruck. I was comfortable to whole time. I was so thrilled with its performance I forgave the fact the shell is designed without pit zips. I certainly didn't miss them.
Around town, on the trail, in the wet, warm or cold- I have the shell to keep me going strong mile after mile and looking good while doing it. The hardest part about this purchase was choosing a colorway. I ultimately decided on the crocodile/Aztec gold and it is spot on to the online representation. Burgundy/denim was my second choice.
