I love this jacket. It is one of the best purchases I’ve made. As others have said, its temperature regulation is incredible; I run hot while hiking and sweat profusely, but not with this jacket. The Alpha 60 is my go-to for hiking and alpine activity, as it’s able to keep me cool in lower elevations and warm in higher elevations. No more constant swapping of layers as I ascend. The DWR does a good job at rolling off water in light- moderate rain. As with all DWR, the coating does wear out with time and use, and it only offers some wind resistance, but the Alpha is a perfect layering piece with a shell. The hood cinches close to your head for maximum heat retention, as so the wrist cuffs. This has gone on dozens of hikes with me, in a variety of conditions. I used this on Mt. Adams last year and it worked beautifully. I’ve also used it in ~20 degree Fahrenheit blizzard conditions with a base layer and shell, and it kept me warm while moving. It is an activewear piece- you will want to have a thicker puffy for base camp, if using the Alpha in colder climates. It’s incredibly lightweight and stuffs down small, and always has a place in my pack. An amazing piece for any price and truly a steal on sale. I highly recommend!

This is feels, works and wears a lot like to time tested DriClime jacket. I used it a lot this winter ski touring. It is a great aerobic piece since it breaths so well. Very compactable. Awesome with a light shell on those blustery days. I can see myself using it a lot in the spring/fall seasons at the crag.

An Active Insulation Dream

This is one of those rare jackets you can get away with using over 300 days a year in the mountains. It breathes amazingly, is crazy light for its warmth, and is a perfect choice for the active user. Take it out for your brisk morning run, mountain bike ride, or nordic tour. It's also light enough to stuff in your pack for a summit tag. The exposed Alpha gives it a nice rugged look and is really comfortable against your body if all you have on is a t-shirt.
