All performance, no magic.
A magician may never reveal their secrets, however the folks over at Marmot aren't about to ghost you with smoke and mirrors when it comes to explaining the magical performance of the Men's Alchemist Down Jacket. And despite its classic appearance, the Alchemist is deceptively technical and is designed to tackle sunny weather at the ski resort or a cold winter evening spent meandering downtown.
More specifically, the Alchemist features a waterproof, breathable MemBrain construction that protects you against precipitation and moisture, while the Dermizax maintains a stretchy feel—so you feel less like a prop that's stuck in a box, and more like a soaring phoenix. Additionally, the 700-fill down insulation provides lofted warmth, and the welded baffle construction prevents heat-sapping cold spots from occurring, meaning you stay warmer, longer. A powder skirt safeguards your baselayers from flushed powder, and the internal Recco reflector doubles down on snowsport safety. Not to mention, the Alchemist is fashioned with a fully removable hood for customized protection and style.

- Q & A
Was surprised no one had reviewed this jacket. Skied in it for 8 days straight in pretty average weather in Australia, mix of wet snow and wind. Being a down jacket you always worry about the waterproofness in wet conditions but this jacket stood up to the test. Was fully dry inside, think the Dermizax helps keep the water out. The hood on this is great, it closes right up with the visor to shield your goggles and the adjustment can pull right down around your ears and face and very warm. Great if you don't wear a helmet like me. Again being down I usually only wear a thermal t-shirt underneath and I was pretty toasty at down to minus 5 c.Not sure if it as warm as my previous Marmot down jacket but does the job. Heaps of pockets for everything inside and out. When zipped up all the way it covers upto under your nose and the liner keeps from rubbing your face or nose. Overall the look is stylish and the light grey colour is nice. I am 5'9 and 69kg and bought a small. The fit is slightly big but pretty close to true size. Also it does not make u look like a Micheli man. The only negative is the Velcro on the wrists is hard to close tight, the Velcro position seems to be in the wrong spot.I picked it up for around 200 so was a bargain.
