Works great, it's protected me

Been using mine for three and a half years and I like it. My head is on the large size and it stays on well, especially with the chin strap tightened. It's very comfortable, I can wear it all day on multi pitch. The headlamp guides are super useful and easy to set up, your headlamp is staying put. Haven't had any large rockfall, but definitely smaller stuff hit it.

Not for my head - Slips back above forehead
- Familiarity:

- Both

I tried both sizes in this helmet, being on the low end of the larger size recommendation. Purchased for MIPS in not black or not orange. Looks great, but even the small with straps fully tightened/adjusted slips back on my forehead easily (maybe 2 inches from above eyebrows to hairline), which does not inspire confidence in a helmet. As this issue would be for force coming laterally or from below in a fall, however, I would expect much protection for the typical small rocks falling from above.

I wanted to treat myself to a new helmet for my annual Fall trip to Moab. I was intrigued about MIPS safety advances; and after research, discovered there are only two MIPS climbing helmets on the market: this one and the Black Diamond Vision. The features of both seem practically identical, with the exception of the rear adjustment system. I don't especially like the BD system, it pokes the backsides of my head. So I went with this helmet because (a) everybody uses BD and I like being different from everybody; (b) I didn't want a black helmet (hot?), (c) It's uber comfortable, feather light, has a small lid on the front and looks great, not like a scoop of ice cream on my noggin and (d) the Mammut intaglio* in the white top plate bespoke quality attention to detail to me. I can't wait to use it in two weeks; and hope I never need its abundant safety features. *Intaglio = a design incised or engraved into a material.

I love this helmet. I'm mixed on the MIPS system in general, but hey...I only have one head! And it doesn't change the fit or comfort of the lid and only adds a little weight. The straps are simple and have enough adjustability for hats, hoods, etc. The shell on top gives me a warm fuzzy feeling over the helmets that are all or mostly foam, and protects better from casual scuffs and general use.

This helmet saved my life.

Well, I had sort of a worst case scenario in the high Sierra with a pretty big rockfall flowing off a summit from about 1000 feet above us. I was hit right in the head with a rock of unknown size. Helmet was destroyed. But I escaped with only a minor concussion. And I can definitely attest this helmet works. I will buy another one when I?m back on my feet. FWIW, I don?t think my result was due to the MIPS, but why not have the safest possible helmet. I don?t know about you, but I need my brain and I thought a little extra money to keep it working was easily justified.
