Don't let rain slow you down.

Don't let threatening clouds put a damper on your hiking plans. Just throw a rain shell and the Mammut Men's Rainspeed HS Pant in your pack and head for the trail. It's extremely lightweight and low-volume so you won't even notice it when it's stashed away in your pack, but you'll be glad you have its 2.5-layer DRYtechnology fabric on your side when the skies open up and the rain starts pouring down. This fabric provides excellent breathability so you don't have to slow your pace, and it also offers ample stretch for freedom of movement when tackling steep ascents. Zippered hems open up wide so you can slide them right over you boots and keep on hiking in a matter of seconds. And when the weather clears up, this pant stows in its own internal pocket for quick and easy storage.

    • Packs easily into own internal storage pocket

    best lightweight rain/ waterproof pant

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 180lbs

I carried these on a 600 mile hike because they are so lightweight and compressible. They exceeded my expectations in every way.

In my opinion they did seem to run small for use as an additional layer. I swapped out my typical Large for an XL. I usually run pretty middle of the road and can make either size work in most cuts/fits. These however, i needed an XL to use layered. Otherwise, I'd have to be pant-less to begin with to make a large work.
I have been forced to wear these a couple times...
No-one likes wearing extra gear, but when you need to count ounces while you add a layer for safety and protection against rain; cold, wet and/or windy conditions, these are the right pants!
Once I wore them in the rain to keep the "car wash" effect from soaking my pants and socks. It was 40 degrees the entire day of rain on the trail and these kept me dry and blocked the wind, all while remaining breathable.
Another time, I used these to sleep in when it was too cold and windy for just my base layer in my sleeping bag. I put these on over my silk bottoms, tucked the legs into socks and climbed into my 40 degree sleeping bag. This kept me warm without overheating or causing a sauna effect- it was in the teens that night.

Disclaimer: I am a female- these did not make me feel as if I was too damp for good health in the girl region.
