Start your day with a warm stretch.
You've got a long day at the resort ahead of you, from dropping the kids off at ski school to meeting up with your instructor for an advanced lesson in off-piste powder skiing. You start the day off with the Mammut Women's Moench Advanced 1/2-Zip Top because a great baselayer is the first building block in having a good time on the slopes. Highly breathable, you get through your active day without feeling clammy and uncomfortable, yet the Polartec still offers a soft, warm touch against your skin. With plenty of stretch to it, this baselayer will move with you like a second skin, so you'll have no problem impressing your instructor with your prowess. With added anti-odor treatment, your shirt will still be smelling sweet after you've picked the kids up and everyone heads to the lodge for some hors d'oeuvres.

We haven’t had much snow yet this season, so I haven’t had a chance to wear this layer for ski touring, but this top has been my go-to piece this season for climbing and hiking! Don't let the fact that it's thin fool you into thinking it's not warm. I wore it climbing for the first time on a 34 degree day with only a tank underneath and as soon as I started moving I started to immediately overheat. It’s an especially cool piece because it provides a warm, moisture-wicking layer while still maintaining enough breathability to allow your body to vent when working hard.
A lot of baselayer tops I own feel really restrictive after you’ve thrown a layer underneath. Not this one! With the gusseted under arms and stretch panel on the upper back I can move around freely without feeling like I’m wearing 16 layers. Total bonus!
Fit: I’m 5’7” and 124lbs. I typically wear a medium in most tops because I have broad shoulders. The medium in this fits me perfectly. It has a really lovely tapered fit (yay for not looking like a box), but still gives room to add a layer or two. I have pretty long arms, and the sleeves are a perfect length on me.
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size

First off, this top is very flattering . The photos don't do it justice. It's pieced together to enhance and show of your natural curves, so you'll want to have this on if it's important that you impress someone, in the lodge. ;) But more importantly, this design gives you a full range of movement, without displacing the shirt. It has a good length too, so you don't have to worry about it riding up or coming out of your ski pants while your on the slopes.
This piece is very well mapped base layer, for both warmth and breathability. It's not my thickest base layer, but it's the one I want to get sweaty in. This will be your first choice for hard hikes, cold runs, and ski tours. It breathes really well, while providing some warmth and protection from the elements.
The fit is perfect for me and really comfortable. I'm typically a medium and got a medium in this. Base layers are often a little too tight and short and in the waist, but this is spot on, in the medium size. I'm 5'8, 135lbs.
