Pack along a protective layer of warmth.

When temperatures drop or icy winds start to blow when you're out in alpine environments, the Mammut Women's Miva Light Down Jacket offers a crucial layer of warmth with minimal bulk that you can pull on or layer under a shell. This insulating jacket offers toasty 850-fill down warmth while weighing in at only 10.6 ounces, and packs down into its own inner stash pocket so you can easily stuff it in your pack and carry it with you for protection against foul or frigid conditions. You can quickly cinch down the jacket's one-hand drawcord hem for a protective, snug fit, and access the inside of the jacket or ventilate from the top or bottom with the two-way front zipper. A high collar provides ample neck protection, and the baffled construction keeps the down fill in place for consistent all-over warmth. The jacket's super-light ripstop Pertex fabric is durable as well as wind- and water-resistant so it stands up to hard use and guards against moisture and windchill so you stay warm in variable conditions.

    Slightly Small? Not!

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size

I decided to order a Large based on the reviews (I typically wear a medium) - only to find out it looks to be pretty true to size. It was pretty large for me, considering I have a 40 bust - it still had way more room than I would want or need. I'm 5'4", and the shoulder line was off my shoulder, the sleeves were long and the length overall was long. This fit like most larges I've tried on. It's going back, and will likely get a medium. So contrary to what's being said that this jacket runs slightly small, I'm more inclined to say it's true to size! Otherwise, I think the jacket is pretty cool.

    Warm, lightweight, well worth it.

Skiing, hiking, around town, this jacket has never let me down. Mostly use it under a shell in freezing temps and it keeps me super warm but still lightweight. Can't stand feeling bulky or weighed down by layers, so this is a great piece. I didn't have any of the issues mentioned in the reviews and found the fit perfect for an active jacket.

Very durable & warm for its lightweight

I have taken this jacket rock, ice, and mountain climbing, backpacking, back and front country skiing, you name it, and it has held up incredibly well. Sure there are a few pin-holes that feathers come out of, but that is the nature of this type of jacket . It does fit into its own pocket, but it is a real challenge to get it in there, as the pocket should be slightly larger so it doesn't take so long to stuff the coat into it. I am surprised by the reviews of the "tight" hem, I have not had a problem. I do have two complaints... one is that it is not a very flattering jacket, as some are that have different seam patterns. Secondly, ever since I first bought it there was something weird about the zipper. The teeth at the bottom kept getting bent to the point where I couldn't zip it up anymore, and I had to clip a couple of them off with nail clippers to keep it functional. Finally I couldn't use it anymore, soI contacted the company, and they fixed it for free. I just had to pay to ship it in. However, they told me it was because I wasn't using the double zipper properly. I have used lots of double zippers; I think it is because they use zippers with tiny teeth that break too easily. And I have never once utilized the fact that it is a double zipper anyway, I never need to unzip it from the bottom. Overall the jacket is surprisingly warm for its weight, and very comfortable.

Great features except for the hem!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small

This jacket is warmer than most on the market in the same price range, likely a result of its 80g loft weight; the Eucalyptus color is super sweet; and the jacket is lightweight! But, I must agree with Noe5557136; I am 5.2 @ 106lbs, and I also ordered an XS: the jacket fit beautifully everywhere but the bottom hem. What's up with that? I know I can move the lower zipper up and down for comfort, but the hem on this jacket just seems unusually tight. I would recommend that Mammut make the hem a cinch cord rather than elastic; this will allow more, does anyone know the lifespan of the elastic? A cinch cord can be easily replaced if it loses its elasticity; there's some uncertainty here whether or not I'll be able to say the same for the hem Mammut chose for the MIVA II.

...advertized as having a draw cord hem: "quickly cinch down the jacket's one-hand drawcord hem for a protective, snug fit, and access the inside of the jacket or ventilate from the top or bottom with the two-way front zipper." But where? This feature is not found in the jacket I received.....

    Great jacket, nice and long!

I've had a hard time finding a down jacket that is: a. fitted so I don't look like a puffball, b. not too fitted across the chest (36D - it's a challenge), and c. long enough for my monkey arms and torso. This thing totally fits the bill! I'm 5'9" with a big chest, athletic build and lanky arms and it's often really hard for me to find jackets that fit just right. Either I get a large and the boobs are tight and the sleeves are short or I get an XL and look like I'm wearing dude clothes. But this is just so perfect, it's like it was made for me. I got a size L... nice and long in the sleeves and back, tailored but not tight and SO WARM. Seriously, SO WARM! I have a pretty decent sized set of hips on me, but I didn't find the bottom to be tight as another reviewer said. The red color is awesome and the jacket packs down to the size of a nalgene bottle. Haven't endurance-tested it yet, but so far so good!

    Great jacket, nice and long!

    I love this jacket!

This jacket is great! Super light weight and warm. Fits well under a hard shell for those cold days skiing and warm enough to wear on it's own when I'm off the mountain. This is the first season I haven't once complained about being cold!

I'm 5'3" and weigh 130lbs and have the medium - I like the fit, not too tight but not baggy. It seems to run a little longer than other down jackets I've tried on. Would definitely recommend it.

Could have been a great jacket

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small

This could have been the perfect down jacket but the bottom half of the jacket was just too small across the stomach and hips, even with the double zip. The top part of the jacket is perfect with a high collar, small arms and a good sleeve length. For reference, I am 5'3, 108 lbs and the x-small was too small on bottom.

Hi, anyone have measurments on the arms in the medium and small? I'm 5'9", 130lbs with long arms. Want the jacket fitted but am worried about sleeve length.

    Best Answer

I don't have the measurements for medium and small, but if the large is any indication the arms should be okay! I'm 5'9" too and like 95% arms and legs and it's plenty long for me :) If you hit up the online chat, one of the gearheads should be able to get the actual measurement for you.

Also just of note, I've been using this jacket on the regular for over a year now and it's held up great! It's super warm and packs down wicked small; for the price I paid (got it on sale) I'm super stoked on it :)
