Mammut Magic Sling 12.0

Mammut made the Magic Sling 12.0's load-bearing seam disappear so you don't have to worry about aligning the seam safely on climbing anchors and extending climbing protection. This seamless sling also features a UV- and abrasion-resistant sheath that protects the light, skinny Dyneema core from sunlight and sharp edges for long-lasting durability.

Great length and base to create anchors. Would use again.

Stiff and Strong

I found the new sling construction radically different from their old. The hand is very stiff, and for alpine draws, there are advantages and disadvantages. The good: these make great ad hoc gear slings, and can be trusted over a horn - they seem stronger and more resistant to cutting or even snags. The challenge: they are so stiff that they are quite bulky when racked as alpine draws. This may change over time, but only time will tell.

Great Feeling, Flexible, Strong Sling

We used these for a couple trips now, and if the Dyneema re-enforced nylon slings I've used, they are way more flexible, but still incredibly light. I prefer the Edelrid Tech Web slings overall, but this have a great use in my kit, where I want something more flexible with all the qualities of the Tech Web unfortunately without the Aramid coating. I would use these all situations where the rope would never run over the sling (in that situation I would use the Edelrid, but I only have a few because those are very, very pricey).

Great multi purpose sling

Great sling for variety of uses. It's durable so its my go to for slinging rock features or trees. Due to its lightness, and durability, i keep this on my harness as an emergency double length sling, it has come in handy. It is a bit stiff and can be a bit unwieldy.

Thick

It's too beefy to third it into an alpine draw. It gets tangled up in other gear on my harness. If you plan to sling it over your shoulder it's great, though.

Just a sling

Nothing special about this product. It gets the job done. Good quality.

Sturdy and well made sling. A must have

You might not need 10, but having a couple of them for tricky placement is a great addition to my rack. I highly recommend them.

It's a functional sling

Title is my takeaway - it's a functional sling. I'm getting back into trad climbing after a few years hiatus, and I need to replace my fabric goods. Since it's time to change things over I'm sorting through where my gear preferences are. I like Mammut as a brand and some of my old alpines are Mammut just not this sling. Which leads me to my thoughts: -The sling is longer than I expected (b/c I seem unable to visualize length properly), but it's been useful in a couple situations. -The webbing is a little stiffer than I expected, which is fine on single-pitch and a bit annoying on multi-pitch. -Was surprisingly useful on a couple sport routes that needed an extension and a long draw wasn't enough. Would I purchase again? Eh, maybe for a good price, but I'll first look for something different. Note: I've only used this in the course of regular climbing. I've (fortunately) not had any thrilling adventures since purchasing.

Nice sling

The sling is very nice because it puts my mind at a bit more ease when extending an anchor over a potentially sharp bit of rock.

Stiff Sling

Nice durable stiff sling. I bought it in the 120cm length and like to carry it over the shoulder for slinging threads, anchor building and as a belay extension. Its much more durable then normal dynama slings and easier to untie knots after being loaded. Quite stiff though, which is nice if you are slinging things. Its a nice to have tool for trad climbing, but a bit specialized. I do like that this can take a fall factor 1 fall, unlike some dynama slings, as Mammut points out in their testing.
