Big and strong for gyms or hard projects.

Its large 10.2-milimeter diameter and thick sheath mass make the Mammut Gravity Classic Climbing Rope an excellent choice for gym climbing. This big boy is super-strong with a 10-11 fall rating by UIAA, meaning you can take gigantic whippers for multiple seasons whether you're training in the gym or projecting those impossible-to-climb routes outside. It's also particularly useful for beginner climbers who want a bit more bulk to help them learn how to belay and climb appropriately. Get the 60-meter rope if you're planning on climbing with it in the gym, or take the 70-meter one out to the crags.

    Happy with initial use

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Bought this rope to replace my old one. Just from playing around with it I can say that it feels good in my hands and seems to run through my belay device. I really like the color of the rope too.

    Great workhorse and beginner rope.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have this in 60m, it was my first rope. I've put it through the ringer on top rope, sport, and trad. I absolutely love this rope, especially for my first few years climbing outside. I know when I replace it, I'll get something lighter, but I'll likely pick up another one of these for big wall and for putting up top ropes for my friends.

    great for gym and sport

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This rope is great for the gym and dry days out at the crag. The 10.2 mm is pretty burly so you don't mind taking whips on it time after time. The rope has no dry treatment, it's really nice to have this on a tarp when you are outside. 70 meter is a good size to have, you could potentially cut the rope in half and get two gym ropes out of it. I would purchase again but fortunate it will be a while before i will need another rope like this.

i buy this rope and im greatfull

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

i got the 70 meters rope, and we enjoy it, because we use this in the outdoor crag near to the neiberhood. Im mexican, so maybe my english its not that good, but i think this rope its preatty amaizing, its long, it do the heacy duty, i dont have a rope bag, but with this huge rope im sure it dont care. The color its preatty to, in spanish wee call it tornasol, because it seems to change color with the sun. In the past i got ropes that where thinner, and they really dont last as much. With some rappel or sharp edge and the rope was in pain, such thing dont happen with this one. I hope this is helpful to you. And enjoy the climbing! See you at the crag !

    Perfect gym rope

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got the 70 meter rope to climb indoors. Cut it in half for easier haul since I don't need more than 35 meters at my gym. have other half in my closet for when this one is ready to be retired. Feel super comfortable projecting hard lead routes in the gym. Have taken a few hefty whips on this guy so far!

    A darker blue.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

When I purchased this rope I really wasn't in love with the color that it appeared on the backcountry website (pastel blue/baby blue). When I opened the package I was very happy to see that it is much darker in person. This rope is actually a beautiful darker blue, although royal blue is going a bit far. I will try to share a photo soon.

I have only used the rope twice, but it feels great. Its a little heavy, but the 10.2mm thickness makes it perfect for my belay person who is a beginner.

I think its a splendid first time rope.

Update: After using the rope a few more times I am still really pleased with the rope, but I will say that it has quite a bit of stretch to it. When we sit with this rope we tended to lose more progress than we do with other ropes in our group.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

first rope and ive loved it. its a burly rope and you cant beat it for the price, ive been on the sharp end of some friends ropes that are around the same price and felt a little uneasy...this rope is of great quality for the price. and super stretchy!

    Good Gym Rope

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My partner and I lead 3-4 days a week on this rope in the gym. We estimated that we put a total of about 700 climbs on it before we had to cut the ends back. Still feeds nicely through the ATC. Great for a gym workhorse.

    Great Rope

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Very versatile high quality rope. Great for sport climbing and top rope. I have used this rope a lot and it has little sign of wear. It is a super safe and durable rope. Can't beat a mammut rope!

I have not had an issue with mine. I always could the rope after use to prevent tangles and knots. Otherwise it is a really supple rope. Easy to tie knots in and feed through and atc. Haven't had a problem with sheath slip as all Mammut ropes seem to be immune to it. Sorry for the late reply.
