The back articulation is amazing
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
The best part of this bag is the hip articulation on the spine of this bag. It is so comfortable and as an added bonus creates space on your back for airflow for less back sweat dripping into the crack. It did need some modification to fit my needs. I sewed a stretchy pocket on each side of the front zipper to carry easy to grab small items. I am not sure what the bungee that is threaded across it is supposed to do,because it doesn't cinch down easy, but I am not just using it to secure things in my new stretch pockets. The accessory zipper pouch that comes with it is basically useless and a waist of fabric, but the right hand hip bungee is nice and tight and was a new way to carry my poles that I was at first skeptical about. Overall very happy for backpacking.

I wish I could love this Pack!
I bought the Women's 50-60 for short backpacking trips. I have the smaller Ducan Spine for say hiking and love it. I thought I would equally love the Ducan Spine 50-60 for larger loads but it just doesn't have all the features I find would be nice to have for a backpack trip like an outer mesh pocket (rather than an outer zipper to access the main compartment. Also, as I was cranking hard to tighten the cords, I tore the grommet off the rubber piece near the top of the pack as well as the rubber itself (this was only my 4th trip using this pack) - thinking it should hold up to heavy tightening over long term use. I have pictures of it i could submit. I do love the way this pack carries on me, the roomy/stretchy side pockets hold a lot and are easy to reach while wearing the pack. Also love the material - if there were a mesh outer pocket and easier to use straps rather than the draw chords, it would be perfect!
