Wall Alpine Belay Device

The Mammut Wall Alpine Belay Device proves its versatility when you take it up big walls and multipitches. By utilizing the larger eyelet and the anchors, you can set the belay device into an auto-locking mode for top-roping your second (and/or third) with ease, and the smaller eyelet helps you lower them without any hassle. Apart from that, this belay device does everything else you need on multipitches, including lowering, rappelling, and standard belaying. V-shaped grooves give you the friction you need to reliably catch and lower heavier climbers.

Brakes Well Without Breaking the Bank

I've put it through the wringer

The Mammut Wall Alpine Belay Device is a simple, lightweight, and efficient tool to have on my harness. Most ropes I've used flow smoothly when belaying and rappelling. Having used both the Reverso and ATC Guide, I think I have found my new guide mode belay device due to it's cheaper price point and it's minimalist design. Would totally recommend this belay device for any multi-pitch climber!

wouldn't purchase again.

I've put it through the wringer

Had one of these and liked a lot BUT there is one critical thing wrong with the design. After using for about a year the back of the device where the rope is constantly rubbing got really sharp. I felt it was no longer safe to use for belay or rappelling to i retired it. I would go with an alternative ATC guide such as the petzl reverso.

Greyson G I have had this happen to the BD guide, scary. Here's what I do to avoid that. I started flipping it around for short rappels. It wore down the edge enough that it doesn't feel sharp.

Buy this one

Best all around belay device I've used, aside from auto blocking ones. Very light and still able to break extremely fast with the groved teeth. Perfect for either short sends or for carrying with on multi pitch routes.

Nice Belay Device

This thing works, not much to say. Very light and easy to feed rope.

So long ATC

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

My girlfriend/climbing partner needed a belay device that was able to belay from anchors at the top of a pitch. I have used my ATC-Guide for quite some time now, but with so many other options available, I was finding a hard time spending that much cash on the ATC again. These Mammut belay devices are great. They're super light and feed rope smoothly. Can't wait to go do some more multi pitches now
