Why We Like The Albula HS Pant

Unlike a lot of rain layers, this Albula HS Pant is surprisingly breathable so we can be comfortably cool while the rain comes down. But when the sun's back out, we can remove this outer layer in an instant thanks to its full-length side zips, and it's easy to store in our pack due to its self-stowing pocket and packable materials.

Could be better

The 34/Reg fit on my 33 waist was snug, but they do tend to slide down as is expected when walking or xcountry skiing. You would expect that a smartly designed pair of rain pants by Mammut, which run well over $100, would have solved the simple solution of adjusting the waistband. But they provided no such ability and I found myself hiking up my pants constantly, which was a annoying reminder of the poor design. If that engineering feat was too complicated or too expensive, they could have sewn on a few chincy belt loops just to complete the functionality. But, alas no, these are freestanding pants.
