Favorite workhorse locker

This is my favorite workhorse locker, I have probably dozens of them. It doesn't hurt that they are cheap, and they are a screaming deal when they're on sale (lookin' at you Backcountry.com!!!) I've never gotten the screwgate stuck under tension which is pretty common with Petzl screwgate lockers.

Solid and Light

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Love this carabiner. I usually use it for setting up anchors. It is really light but definitely VERY durable! Can't go wrong with this one.

Perfect Carabiner for climbing!

I have used this carabiner a handful of times now and absolutely love it! Extremely durable and lightweight.

Pirana compatible.. stamped 30 kN

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Pirana Descenders have a very short list of carabiners that will fit. This Mad Rock Hulk HMS fits precisely into the hole! Plus, the spine is stamped 30 kN! The rich Black Colorway makes me feel like I need to wear a Tuxedo while rappelling. Solid 'biner!

Super solid

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I use this biner on a practically daily basis while indoor lead climbing. It's connected to my GriGri, and takes quite a beating. The size is perfect--it doesn't feel too big on my harness and get in the way of my belaying, but it's also not so small it's awkward. It's perfect for having to take in and out of my GriGri several times. Love it and thinking of getting a couple more in green. Note: the black does wear off a bit on the areas that are in contact with my belay device, but that's expected. It gives it characters, so I don't mind.

Best overall locker

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

This is my new favorite locking carabiner-- super lightweight, durable, reliable, easy to lock/unlock, big enough to hold everything I need on long multipitch and alpine routes, but not so big that it feels bulky or gets in the way. All around perfect design.

Super strong

Great large carabiner.

Rock It

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Gave this as a gift and here is what she had to say: "This is my favorite caribiner of all time! It is light, reliable, easy to use, and it comes in teal. I use it exclusively as a belay caribiner, both inside and outside."

Mad Rock Hulk HMS screwgate carabiner

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

This thing is super beefy. Has a very solid gate. Nice wide gate for easily setting up anchor.

Awesome!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

This is my favorite carabiner. It's really light and strong and the shape makes it really useful while belaying. I like to have it along in case I forget a belay device so that I can just tie a munter hitch around it and be good to go. You can't really do that on the smaller carabiners. Other than that, the gate action is really smooth, the opening and closing mechanism works great, it's cheap, and the black color is sexy. What's not to love? Just wait till it goes on sale and pick one up: you'll be happy you did!

Good large carabiner

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I had a BD Rocklock previously and this one is comparable in size, it's more heavy but feels more solid. The rating is also higher than the Rocklock. The spring action is heavy and may be difficult for people with small hands to operate one-handed.

Good and cheap standard biner.

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

This Carabiner is the standard used at my local climbing gym. It gets used daily by hundreds of noob belayers so you know it can stand a beating. It feels lightweight and is rather large. It is your general use biner.

Super Basic

Basic design, but pretty burly. 29kN is pretty intense, but it doesn't make it feel any heavier than any other biner I've got.
