With one of the softest uppers in the climbing shoe game, the Mad Rock Haywire Climbing Shoe will keep you training and sending in comfort. The FloKnit upper conforms to your foot like a sock while the Science Friction 3.0 Rubber underfoot provides the power you need. The one-piece, molded toe box enhanced durability as it won't delaminate at the tip like many down-turned shoes. Speaking of downturn, the Haywire has an aggressive profile, yet it's balanced out by the ease of flexing the shoe to create a more comfortable experience in an aggressive shoe.

Feels like... LS Futura!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer

I climbed in these shoes for a few weeks now, in gym, mostly lead (5.11s). Well.... even though I climbed in many different shoes, I cannot get rid of impression that Haywires climb and feel almost exactly like my LS Futuras! Same combination of mid softness and front stiffness with rounded edge. No, they don't have a rounded edge, but rubber buildup with a bit rounded edge starts feeling like no-edge after a short break-in. Same sticky rubber. ( I know in the past MD rubber was not the best, but recently it feels similar to Grip2 or C4. ) The hill feel even better than Futuras. Don't do many toe hooks, so cannot give my opinion on this one. The only difference, which is not a good one, is that the front rand of the Haywires is rather stiff, even if roomy. I would prefer it be a bit softer (like Futura... :) ) I bought these shoes in my street size 8.5M. After breaking in, I would say for performance fit one may go half size down, not more. Otherwise the street size is OK. Not sure why Mad Rock discontinued this model...

The best shoes I?ve ever had
- Familiarity:

Unfortunately they are discontinued, I?ve contacted madrock and they will start making newer molded toe box models. Cons: because it?s single molded toe box you can’t resole them. Make sure you get the right size or they aren’t going to help. Can’t really appreciate in the gym because everything is manufactured. You cannot stay in them all day. Pros: you feel everything on the rock. Trusting tiny holds becomes way better because you can mold over a foothold and crank with your foot. Downturn sticky rubber grips on over hangs (ie: the red). Fits like a sock and strap makes it snug for great heel hooks. The slit in the toe box allows it to mold better around your foot and there is textured rubber on top to not sacrifice performance on toe hooks. It’s an all around monster on slab allowing you to grip everything. Very durable while being soft at the same time. I?ve had 5.10 quantum?s , soIll 2020 Tokyo?s, and bd aspects and this does everything all in one. I highly recommend them but they are discontinued, it?s a shame.
