good value, stellar gym shoe
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: 10
if it wasn't for the disappointing heel of this shoe i would have given it a 5 star. The toes are aggressive with a stiff sole and it made the sit start of my current project a breeze...the rest of the problem is heel intensive though, and my beat up Jekylls by La Sportiva felt more secure.
I was nervous about the heel because it's formed, but what actually makes the heel perform less for me is the fact that it doesnt come up the achilles far enough, creating a very small contact pad with the rock when the heel is all the way rocked back and most depended upon.....im thinking Astro Mans;)
As for sizing im a 10.5/11 in street shoes.
My Jekylls are 8.5s
I ordered these in 10s and they are SNUG.
These rocks are mad, I tell you! Mad!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: Runs small
- Size Bought: 12.5
My initial impression of these shoes was that they were more "aggressive" than I expected. The fit was a little off for me at first. I wanted them to be tight, but initially there was a bit too much pressure on my big toe than I would have liked. As with my other Mad Rock shoes, after several wears, they have stretched and are much more comfortable. The rubber soles and curved soles are great for climbing slightly more advanced routes and I would recommend them for anyone wanting to take their climbing to the next level. If you're looking for comfort and planning to climb for long periods of time, this may not be the shoe for you.
