You've been hiking in the mountains for years, and now you're ready to set your sights on more technical objectives. Believing it shouldn't cost you a small fortune to make the foray into alpine and winter mountaineering, Lowe Alpine created the Peak Ascent 42L Backpack. It offers a simple and functional design at a great value, making it a great entry-level choice for aspiring alpinists who want to ascend higher over rock and ice.
Tough fabrics withstand frequent encounters with jagged rock and ice, and they also repel snow and rain to keep gear dry. HeadLocker ice axe attachments and ice screw slots on the hip belt equip this pack for technical ascents, and the under-lid rope and crampon strap keep essential climbing gear close. And with a spacious design and daisy chain that lets you lash sleeping bags and pads to the outside, this pack works well as an entry-level backpacking pack, too.
