    When moisture abounds.

When it isn't raining down the streets of the Golden City, the sidewalks stay slippery and the air stays so humid that your socks soak through before you reach Chinatown from the BART. So get yourself the Lowa Men's San Francisco GTX Lo Shoe, featuring Gore-Tex's Surround Technology. Surround wraps the shoe in a waterproof and breathable membrane for enhanced protection that doesn't interfere with ventilation. Most waterproof and breathable membranes leave the rubber sole unprotected so your foot doesn't get clammy, but that leaves a wide open area for water to seep through. Surround fixes that by extending the membrane underfoot and adding ventilation slits in the rubber sole so your foot stays protected and prevents clamminess. This casual shoe also features a seamless upper made of nubuck leather, a sneaker-like Summer Travel rubber sole, and PU Monowrap midsole for cushioned comfort, trail-worthy stability, and support for long walks from Golden Gate to Fisherman's Wharf.

    • A casual shoe with innovative wet weather protection
    • Gore-Tex Surround for complete waterproof, breathable protection
    • Nubuck leather gives the upper smooth style
    • PU Monowrap midsole mixes comfort, stability, and support

    Technical and Stylish

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Height: 6'5"

Lowa San Francisco GTX shoes are awesome, with a very cool look to them. I like how they almost look like skate shoes but still have very technical features. I don’t personally own them but I have had the chance to try them on and walk around the office. I also have sold a few pairs so have feedback to give in that sense. The grip on the soles is awesome and these are Gore-Tex. Gore-Tex means that they are waterproof but also breathable, which is a very nice combination to have when talking shoes. These aren’t necessarily meant for hiking or anything like that but if need be, you could knock out a few miles if it is all you have. These are more for wearing around town and having your foot feel comfortable while doing it. Definitely would recommend these to anyone looking for a stylish yet technical shoe to buy.

I wore these Lowa San Franciscos around the office for about an hour. They have a solid fit and are very comfortable to walk around in. One of the best features of these shoes are the fact that they are made with Gore- Tex. Gore-Tex is awesome but most of the time Gore-Tex shoes look like they need to be on a mountain and they are too warm to wear day in and day out. That isn't the case with the Lowa San Francisco. These shoes have a solid style that you could wear to the bar or around town and the Gore-Tex surround technology makes they comfortable all day long. The Gore-Tex surround technology allows the show to breath 360 degrees around your foot. These are a really versatile and cool looking shoe. Grab these as your commuters or your daily drivers.

    Comfortable Versatility

    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 12
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 165lbs

I'll start off by saying the only thing I don't really like about these shoes is the color of the laces but that can be easily changed. Other than that the shoes seem pretty rad.

Size wise, they are a tad narrow for me, but I have wide enough feet thta I find this to be the case with pretty much every shoe. I needed to size up a half size (went with a 12 and I'm generally an 11.5) for a comfortable fit. Arch/instep are good for me (low arch, low volume foot) and the heel is a bit large for me but probably great for most other folk as I have a narrow heel.

The Surround technology seems pretty cool and my feet are noticeably less sweaty than when i wear my regular boots.

I can see these shoes being great for urban and around town use, as well as light hikers and possibly approach shoes (don't know how sticky the rubber is but most approaches don't require full on approach shoes). I could even see myself using these as MTB shoes with flat pedals in a pinch.

Comfort, function and plenty of style!

These shoes are rad! They feature Gore-Tex surround technology that provides a waterproof layer between you and any pesky rain or snow around town. Because of that they are a great casual shoe for year round use in most locations. They do run a bit on the small side considering i most often wear a 9.5 and needed a 10 in these. If you are somewhere between sizes like me I would recommend going with the larger size you can wear. As is to be expected with a Gore-tex shoe the San Francisco's not only keep you dry but they also breathe well and allow for warm air to escape your foot especially when wearing a technical wicking sock. the sole is also not too thick. I personally prefer a shoe that is on the softer side and allows you to feel what is going on under your feet a bit more and the San Francisco's are perfect for me feeling what i am walking on. All in all if you are looking for a great casual shoe with fantastic waterproof technology to keep you dry throughout the year look no further!

Singing In The Rain. *cue tap dance*

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 10.5
    • Height: 6'3"
    • Weight: 185lbs

These shoes fit like old school Vans, super comfortable on top and thin in the soles. In terms of durability, I felt like they were very well made, but not a lot in terms of arch support. I was surprised about how breathable they were and the water resistance was on point as well. I could confidently walk through a puddle and not have to worry about fury of soggy socks. Definitely a solid, rainy city shoe that you could put some miles in.
Getting used to them takes a hot minute, it’s been a while since I’ve walked around in skate style shoes (*cough, cough* high school). In terms of fit, I had to size down a half size, normally I wear an 11, but a 10.5 worked nicely for me. Would definitely recommend if you’re wanting to get your Gene Kelly on forgot your oxfords on a rainy day.

    A nice waterproof "skate" shoe

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 225lbs

These are a nice looking, no frills everyday shoe (well except the waterproof liner). they fit and feel like the skate shoes that I wore as a kid. Light, flexible sole. The one really nice feature of this shoe is the gore-tex liner, these kept my feet dry when I stomped in puddles. Another nice feature was how well these shoes breath, normally I associate waterproof shoes with having a clammy foot by the end of the day. NOT these bad boys, these guys breathe so well. I wear a size 13 and found these fit true to size.

    Solid Gore-Tex Daily Drivers!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 165lbs

For those of us who don't wear skate shoes everyday! This is a great casual shoe with some nice technology built in. The Gore-Tex-Surround ensures dry passage from your car to the office, grabbing a pina colada, or getting caught in the rain...

The fit for me runs about a half size small. I normally wear a 9 and in these that put me right in the toe. I sized up to a 9.5 and am super happy. These shoes have a thin flexible sole, and plenty cushion for everyday use with just enough room in the toe box.

I use this shoe for daily casual wear and would recommend it for that use (and believe that is the intended use). The styling on these shoes allows you to wear them with skinny jeans or a technical hiking pant. You will be comfortable during your pre-climb camp coffee in Moab UT, as well as when you seek out that overpriced (yet delicious) locally roasted cup in Portlandia. If you are looking for a great fitting, comfortable daily driver casual shoe with Gore-Tex technology to keep you dry, this is your shoe.

    Some Sweet Casual GTX Shoes

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 145lbs

This shoe feels great! its really comfortable and good looking as well. Its nice and flexible while at the same time giving some pretty good stability for a low top. It has great ventilation and as you would expect from a product with gore tex technology , great water resistance. The solid construction is a good feel and the foot bed is on the wider side that might fit better for a lot of people. At the end of the day I really like these shoes, even the out side feels good and I really like the way they look with casual ware. no worries for rain or snow these can be really good any day shoes depending where your at!

    Pretty Rad Waterproof Urban Shoes

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 9.5
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 175lbs

I typically wear a 9.0-10.0 depending on the brand and this splits the difference on 9.5 exactly. It fits great! I have a medium width foot and these feel great in them. I've only had a few days in these so far, but am pretty stoked on them in general. Salt Lake City gets a fair amount of rain and snow in the winter/spring and these are perfect for that exactly. Photo below is from a drizzly day in SLC recently.

The Gore-tex Surround has allowed for me to tromp through (small) puddles and wet grass without fear of soggy socks at my desk. I personally really like the look of these, they sort of look like an approach shoe while still being a casual shoe for day to day use. They seem to breath well, though haven't really put them through the ringer on that.

The one real downside to these are that the laces seem to unlace themselves, so definitely need to double knot them.

All in all, if you're looking for a rad city shoe in a place that rains pretty frequently (cough cough, I'm looking at you, PNW), this is a great option! Feel free to reach me at 801.204.4547 or cojohnson@backcountry.com if you have any questions on them or would like help placing an order.

    Pretty Rad Waterproof Urban Shoes

    Great shoe for urban folks

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 10.5
    • Height: 6'4"
    • Weight: 190lbs

Comfortable, breathable and stylish urban shoe. Due to the tread design this shoe isn't made for off concrete forays. Mud gets clogged in treads and sticks may puncture GoreTex liner visible on bottom of shoe. I am happy with this shoe for day to day city wear. I would purchase another pair again.
