Warm to the max.
Not only does cold-weather riding require a certain temperament, but it calls for certain gear as well. Cue the Louis Garneau Thermax Shoe Covers. Made of a combination of water- and wind-resistant neoprene and heat-trapping Iso Lite, the Thermax is compatible with all types of cycling shoes, with an exposed bottom that makes for easy walking in mountain shoes.
They attach with several elastic straps and one small Kevlar plate, with a taped zipper in the back that makes for easy use. There's an additional zipper on the side, also fully taped, that provides ventilation and access to Boa dials and ratchet-style shoe closures. The shoe covers are finished with silicone elastic at the cuff that keeps rain, snow, and cold from sneaking down into your socks.

Good while they lasted
Kept the wind and rain off my feet for the 4 rides they lasted (2 weeks of riding). The zipper that seals the rear of the booties broke when I was trying to put them on a muddy day. Ride cancelled.
A Must for year around cyclist

Need to keep the feet warm, the wind out and the water out of your shoes on the long treks these are a must. Pop a toe warmer pad on a pair of wool socks with these covers on and you are good to go for the cold, wet, or otherwise. Ease on and off by the design, fit under the cuffs of the am-fib pants, and have all the serious water proof design to get the job done even in the tough weather. I like being able to use the zipper (waterproof design) to make last minute adjustments to my boa shoes w/o having to remove the cover. So even during a ride its just a quick stop and adjust. Won't do winter riding with out these for now and the foreseeable future.
