Equipe Bib Short

With the advancements in compressive fabric technologies, many of today's cycling shorts are constructed using panels made from muscle-supporting materials. And while we know that traditional Lycra is light and relatively aerodynamic, it often lacks the body-holding and fatigue-resistant properties found in modern compressive fabrics. With this in mind, Louis Garneau designed its Men's Equipe Bib Short using a compressive panel construction in order to achieve both support and day-long riding comfort.

The Equipe Shorts reach high compressive levels using lycra fiber Powerband fabric for its construction. This lightweight, highly breathable fabric contains more Lycra than basic knits, providing a better hold and moisture transfer. By strategically wrapping compressive panels around your legs, the shorts support your muscle groups and keep the harsh effects of road vibration at bay. This translates to helping you ride longer, stronger, and with less fatigue.

Garneau achieves its aerodynamic fit in the Equipe Shorts by using pre-shaped panels and flatlock seams. The 4-way stretchability distributes pressure evenly around your waist. Another small, but often overlooked design characteristic that Garneau incorporates into the shorts is the seamless inner legs. This feature reduces bunching, and the chafing caused by excess material, by eliminating seams at your inner thighs. Adding to this, laser cut cuffs keep the leg panels firmly in place without restricting circulation. Additionally, Garneau adds logos with reflective accents in order to help increase your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions.

For comfort on long rides, Garneau incorporated its acclaimed Motion Airgel chamois. This insert was constructed with perforated gel inserts and an antibacterial fabric. This material is used to combat the growth of bacteria in this heat and moisture-rich area. Its ventilated for additional breathability to keep you dry. The inclusion of Beveled Edge Molding memory foam provides you with friction-free comfort throughout your longest rides.

My go to bibs

These are my go-to bibs for long rides. They offer a little extra compression for a tighter fit, which I enjoy on longer rides. The extra compression helps reduce muscle fatigue and reduces the possibility of a dreaded cramp. I'd like the chamios to be a tad more firm but it suffices. It does have a tiny pocket on the back of straps area. It doesn't hold much, maybe a gel pack, rolled up cash, or a key. It's not really accessible while riding but I suppose it's a nice hidden pocket. I'm 5'11" ,178 lbs and wear the large, the size fits great. If you are on the fence between sizing I'd probably go with the larger choice sense these are designed to fit a little tighter than most.
