Classically Canadian.
While Louis Garneau may stand out more as a high-end triathlon company, its road offerings still indicate that the Canadian firm is more than capable of circulating in the drop bar crowd. LG's proven innovations include being one of the first manufacturers to adopt the now-common single Boa and hook-and-loop strap fastening system, but the men's Copal Shoes demonstrate that it also recognizes the value of classic, time-tested designs.
The traditional ratcheting buckle and hook-and-loop straps constitute an enclosure language that virtually every cyclist can speak by heart, and LG uses it to good effect in order to allow targeted compression at each of the three fastening points. The Ergo Air II sole and Cool Stuff insole facilitate refreshing airflow through the shoes, and the seamless synthetic uppers and HRS-90 heel support system maintain a secure, efficient fit.

Great shoes
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
I have owned these shoes for 7 months and have never experienced any hot spots or any other issues while wearing them. I seriously love these shoes, but if I had to discuss any issue with them it would be installing the cleats. I have SPD pedals and when I was installing the cleats I had issues with removing the felt lining of the shoe to gain access to the holes. It seemed as though the lining had a little too much glue and there were only two sides open to slide the backplate in. I spent a lot of time trying to wiggle the plate in place and ended up scratching the shoes in the process. Since I do not have to replace the cleats that often I am not too upset about it, but I wanted to warn anyone of the battle ahead if you have SPD cleats.
