    Details

From training day to race day.

With their incorporation of cooling technologies and the antistatic, antimicrobial properties of carbon fiber, Louis Garneau's CB Carbon 2 Bib Shorts are just as appropriate for long training rides and sportives as they are for hard racing in your local crit series.

The CB Carbon shorts are, unsurprisingly, made from CB Carbon+ fabric. It maintains a confident fit with gentle compression and a comfortable temperature with sun-reflecting Coldblack treatment. The legs terminate in LG's leg bands of LG's Endurexx material, which also shows up in the side panels. Like CB Carbon+, Endurexx is also gently compressive, so it maintains leg coverage and limits fatigue without cutting into your legs like the usual elastic insert.

The shorts' 11 ergonomic panels are held in their assigned locations by straps of Highlander Mesh bibs mated to a Carbon X-Mesh back for an overall bib construction that breathes and wicks (the Highlander Mesh) and absorbs fatiguing road noise without absorbing moisture (the Carbon X-Mesh). The 4 Motion chamois brings up the rear with frontal vents, bacteriostatic properties, and smoothly transitioning thicknesses of perforated foam padding relieved with a central channel.

Impressed! Great bib for the price.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Extra Large
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 189lbs

As usual LG makes quality stuff. For my height and the size of my thighs this was a perfect fit. Not too tight and cool even in 115F temperatures of Africa. Purchased two and used them in the Cape Epic 2017. Worked out great! Apparently someone else liked them because they stole the one pair and it had not even been washed.

    Wow!

    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XXL
    • Height: 6'2"

These bibs run a bit smaller than size. I bought one size up. I have every bib know to man, I read the ratings and buy only highly rated bibs. These bibs are my go to, favorite bibs. They are nice looking, feel good bibs! Worth the price!

    Fast, comfortable, supportive, durable

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'3"

I have just done some short distances with these but am already impressed by the high quality of materials and production. Carbon fibre woven into the black panels, seems to reduce weight slightly, while improving comfort, cooling, durability and critically aerodynamics. The lattice pattern seems to dimple the fabric like a golf ball. When worn with an ordinary jersey, the difference in drag between legs/hips and torso is considerable above 20mph. The fabric appears to be tough but comfortable. Compression is more supportive than "shark skin" type fabrics and the dimpled fabric seems like it might cool better.

Fit: There is a debate in this thread whether these are too short for taller guys. I think they are on the line but shorter than current fashion. The bright panels give the visual impression that they are shorter than they appear. If I sized up, the nice compression and close race fit of the rest of the bibs might not be as dialed in. If you really like your shorts long and right to the knee, you probably won't like these in any size.

Color: The "bright yellow" is a cooler lighter tone than shown on the website. It's plenty visible which is all I care about. But if you are a stickler for color fidelity, look at the picture and decide if this particular hi viz yellow is to your liking. The color matches Pearl Izumi hi viz yellow socks pretty closely.

I will update my review after a few serious rides. So far, these are great, but the length could be just a bit longer.

    Controlled Compression

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

This bib is very high quality fabric with different compression on different parts of the leg and buttock. Conforms to feel supportive without constriction. I have other LG bibs and this one is much higher quality. I love the comfort.

    too short for tall guys

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XXL
    • Height: 6'4"
    • Weight: 185lbs

I am 6 ft 4 " 185 lbs -- hard to fit for sure, but these bibs, even in XXL size are too short in the legs and probably too short in the torso. Didn't ride in them, will return.

6'3" 185lbs. Size L. Length feels maybe 1" short but torso, top, straps and back are all the right length. I concluded that the style for these was to run slightly shorter. Other bibs may descend to knees, but that makes those a bit too long. I would expect that if I were to size up I would get negligible length while losing the supportive race fit that feels good on these. It's close enough that I would consider it a matter of style. More than adequate leg coverage as far as the saddle and top tube go. Current fashion is for bibs to run very long. By that measure these are rather short. By historical measures, they are in line.

    Feeling good

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 165lbs

Light high quality bib shorts. Up-sized from the charts M recommendation to XL to achieve the advertised "gentle compression". The chamois edge transition is outstanding and contributes to overall ride comfort. Can't really comment on the validity of Coldblack treatment , but the bib shorts do breath and wick well.

According to the LG sizing chart I should take an XS (I have a 29" waist and am 5'5"). Is this true? I have never used an XS before because I stick with the few bibs out there that fit me snugly in a small (i.e., Assos Equipe, Castelli, P.I. Pro, Sugoi RS). True - an XS in other bibs that fit me more loosely (i.e., Bontrager, Endura, Mavic, Specialized) might work too, but finding an XS to try is not normally possible (if they even make them in an XS).

You probably need a Small, not XS. According to LG size charts I should be a small, but after trying several of their bibs in S went with a Medium, which is just right for a 32" waist. I have an LG bib with this same 4-motion chamois and it's my go to bib for long rides, I find it even more comfortable than their 5-motion chamois.
