They worked well
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Height:
- 5' 6"
- Weight:
- 175
I bought these a few months ago when due to Covid there was no in store handling allowed. I had an older, less expensive pair of Makalu Lites, but wanted to get a pair with the AS feature. I was a bit concerned after reading some of the negative reviews but I finally got the chance to test them out on a 10 mile hike over some tough terrain. At first they started slipping with weight on them and needed to be re-tightened often. Not good - or safe. Then one of my hiking buddies fixed the issue. I was tightening them with the lock closed, you need to adjust tightness when the lock is open, then close the lever. Duh! Once tightened they held all the weight put on them perfectly. I'm sure the AS helps, just not sure how much though. These are very light weight for aluminum poles and the cork grip was very comfortable. I'm impressed.
