Speaking of steep terrain, the extended non-slip grip will be there when you need to choke up your grip to reach the summit, and the Aergon Thermo main grip will let you carry your poles normalyl or palm easily them from the top when you need support on steep downhills. Received as gift for Mother's Day - was excited to use them. Loved that they go short enough to fit into suitcase for air travel as well as rather light. Clips to adjust lengths can be "sharp" when hiking. Lower segment does not stay in place once adjusted. One clip BROKE OFF on the second day of use! What a disappointment. Poor Quality. More like a $ 40 pole than $ 180.
