Versatile Well Made Tool

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I have had 1- of these for years and use it all of the time as a back-up plier, screwdriver, knife, etc., when I don't have my full tool kit with me. I have also used it for fishing which it handles the various tasks like hook removal, line trimming, reel maintenance, etc., extremely well. This one is a gift to a deserving individual.

Great All Around Tool

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Great for everyday use. Love throwing this in my pack on excursions just in case. And it is perfect for your car camping set up. While it doesn't have all the options it has the essentials. Sturdy construction so you will have this thing for a long time!

Great for everyday use

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I've owned this for years and don't really have any complaints. It's got a great basic feature set, easy to get to tools, blade comes sharp, and it's been very durable. It's light enough for me to carry with me but still hefty enough to feel substantial and stand up to actual use. I use this for everyday life and construction. For camping I actually don't like the knife as when cutting food with it the small notches punched out of the blade are hard to clean out. I'm thinking of the Signal for camping.

DOES THE JOB!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I bring this guy for long bikepacking trips, backpacking, and anytime I am working on things around the house! It is light enough to keep in your pocket and forget about it, until you need it!

"Multi-tool" with few tools

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This is a great choice for someone who can and will carry a multi-tool every day. The portability, ease of use, and streamlined feature set lend it appeal for the day-to-day user. That same user can purchase the accessory bits, keep them somewhere handy, and have a full-service piece of handy-person equipment. The ergonomics and portability are where the value lies.

Don't be a tool - get this one

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Excellent multi-tool. Does what you would expect it too and nothing else. Easy to access each different option and the holes help shed some weight. Still feels solidly built and the clip is even big enough to fit on my climbing harness. Not that I even need a knife climbing, or anything.... Mostly use this camping and backpacking or climbing trips where I need to be prepared.

Just what I was looking for!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I used to carry just a knife and then lost it so I decided to go for a multi tool. The Skeletool is a great tool with just the right amount of tools. The knife comes out of the box very sharp which is always a plus. The difference between the Skeletool and the Skeletool CX is the CX is a bit lighter, however the CX has a straight blade where the original has a straight blade with a serrated section which is great.

Very handy - pun intended

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I love this little thing. It has all the main features you would use in a multi-tool, without the stuff you never touch. A lot of thought went in to shape and design and for a lightweight tool this is killer.

A bit big

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

To start off this is a very good every day knife. It is one of the only ones that has pliers, a good knife and a usable screw driver. All of the components seem to be very well made and it should last for a good long haul. My only complaint about it is how big it is. I was hoping for something more along the lines of a key fob and it is closer to the size of two fobs length wise. Overall a great tool, at a good price.

this leatherman has been my friend for many years until i tried to clean it myself and wasnt able to put all the springs back in their place. so i got myself the exact same new one because it just is THE tool for everything and more. obviously it cant do everything. its a pragmatic tool that i never missed anything with. buy it!

Its pros and con's. Its pros and con's.

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

This tool is sharp!! Knife came very sharp. Minimal tools if you want a multi-tool item. It is heavy and has a clip if you want to clip it to a belt buckle. I say it is heavy. Its not heavy for the tools it has but is for a multi-tool item. I use it weekly. But I think there are better options out there. the knife is razor sharp. Truly. Cuts paper.

Step up

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I usually carry a Gerber Paraframe around with me. I wanted something that I could take with me that offered more than a blade, but didn't give me 45 other useless tools. This is the tool. I don't notice a bulge in my pocket, and it is light.

Great piece of equipment!

I use this tool for so many things! Bought it a couple weeks ago and couldn't be happier! The knife comes super sharp too! Definitely would recommend if you're looking for a small useful tool.

Minimalist Multi-Tool

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Mine now sits somewhere in the depths of Flaming Gorge, but I loved it while it was around. I really liked this because it is a straight-to-business model without all the extra bullsh*t you'll never use. If you prefer your multi-tools equipped with a magnifying glass and a spork, this isn't the one for you.

Just what I wanted

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I have worked as a river guide for a bunch of year now and have had and lost many multitools I love this one because it's a knife first. The screwdriver bits lock in and can't just fall out. The bottle opener is easy to use and it can be secured very well when needed with the caribineer. This is everything I wanted with nothing extra added.

Surprised how much I use this thing

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I love this multi. I initially bought it as a back up stashed in my car or pack. I now keep this in my pocket all the time. It has really come in handy for quick work and is so light you won't mind carrying . None of the bells n whistles, but all the basics.

Great Everyday Carry tool

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I just got the Skeletool a few weeks ago and love it. So sleek and light. It is easy to forget it is clipped to your pocket. Knife is sturdy and sharp. The perfect tool.

Is the blade on this serrated?

Is the blade on this serrated?

No, the main blade is not serrated, at least on mine anyway. But, from the photo above, it looks like it is..?

Not really a question - I just thought it...

Not really a question - I just thought it is worth pointing out that Leatherman is explicit about the blade being made from 154CM, not 420C - and 154CM is a significantly superior steel.

Good observation, it is 154CM, marked on the blade. Hopefully bc.com changes that spec, thanks to you.

They actually should not change it. The Skeletool is 420hc steel the Skeletool CX is 154cm. Just depends on the model and this one says only Skeletool.

Ahh - Brian is right. And right there is reason enough to drop the extra dough on the CX.

Do these come with a gift box? I'd like to buy a dozen or so for client gifts.

They don't normally come with a gift box but you can call their toll free number & ask to see if they're available: 800-847-8665 I believe you can add a gift box during checkout for a small fee.
