Partnerships with the world's greatest mountain bike riders has its advantages. And when it came time to develop the Oasiz Helmet, Lazer knew that Brian Lopes was the legend to turn to. Together, Lazer and Lopes created a helmet with ample, all-mountain-specific coverage, a light, sub-3000 gram overall weight, and a two-part, fully customizable fit system.
Designed for all-mountain protection, the Lazer Oasiz Helmet features the revolutionary Magic Buckle. Abandoning the fidgety, traditional clasp system, the Magic Buckle is a magnetic clasp system that uses two strong magnets to pull the clasp together and to keep it fastened. Of course, this makes the Oasiz easy to fasten with one hand while riding, or while wearing full finger gloves.
New for 2013 Oasiz, Lazer constructed the helmet using its three-piece, In-Mold Rigidity Brace System (RBS) -- a helmet-specific, in-molded reinforcement structure that works like a skeleton to improve impact resistance and guarantee higher safety. In addition, the Oasiz's sides and back come down a bit lower than most helmets, offering more coverage at the back of the head for all-mountain riding. But, don't assume that this extra protection comes at the price of comfort -- the Oasiz's 21 vents usher air through the shell, pushing heat out to keep your head cool and dry.
Like many of Lazer's best helmets, the Oasiz uses the Rollsys retention system made popular by the Lazer's road line of helmets. The patented Rollsys is a fully integrated mechanism that surrounds the head completely. To dial in the fit, simply turn the smooth thumb wheel on top of the helmet. Even better, the Oasiz's Rollsys tightens symmetrically -- without pressure points -- a feeling enhanced by the Oasiz's antimicrobial, odor-fighting, and temperature-regulating X-static pads that stretch from the forehead back to above the ears. And, for the 2013 Oasiz, Lazer has also incorporated an adjustable rear head basket. Now, you can incrementally dial-in every aspect of the helmet's fit.
The Lazer Oasiz Helmet is available in the sizes Medium and Large and in the colors Lopes Dark Ti Sand and Lopes Gray Silver.

- Q & A
Comfortable but not quite perfect
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Size Bought: Medium
I chose Lazer while searching for a mtb helmet because I liked my Lazer O2 road helmet so much. The O2 with the Rollsys system felt like it was actually custom made for my head and was so comfortable I never felt like I was wearing a helmet. I had very high hopes (and standards) for the Oasiz and it came pretty close. The reason this helmet gets 4/5 stars is because although it's comfortable and I havn't noticed it once through my first few rides, it's got a slighty different shape than the O2 which makes it feel "different" on my head. It also sits much higher on my head. Not bad things, just "different" I guess. The magnetic buckle known as the Magic Buckle is odd at first but very quickly becomes second nature. The sizing is also a bit odd because there is a lot of overlap between a medium and large which can make choosing a size more difficult. I ended up choosing the medium after measuring my head and seeing that I fell into slighty more of the medium range. It's been a very good helmet so far though, I'm pretty much nitpicking to find faults.
Comfortable and adjustable
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
This helmet fits awesome. The dial adjuster makes it possible to have a perfect fit. I forget that I even have a helmet on my head it's so comfortable. Absolutely know shaking around on the bumpiest of trails. Sun visor is perfect for blocking mud and sun.
