Why We Like The Blade+ MIPS Helmet

Think of Lazer's Blade+ MIPS helmet like the Z1's little brother, packing many of the same features while coming in at half the price. You'll get a helmet that looks great, is lightweight, and vents well all while saving some cash for some race entries. Its slick, In-Molded, polycarbonate profile and Advanced Rollsys retention system provide an excellent fit with great adjustability. The retention system is ponytail-friendly and is top-mounted making it easy to reach on the fly while offering horizontal and vertical adjustments. The Blade has a full complement of 22 large vents keeping you cool on those extended summer climbs. Whereas most helmet manufactures leave the EPS foam bare on the underside of the helmet, one unique feature of the Blade+ is its bottom shell finishing providing a finished look and additional impact protection. Inside, the low friction MIPS layer can provide additional protection against certain rotational impacts.

  • A streamlined helmet to keep you cool and protected
  • Polycarbonate In-mold shell construction is durable
  • 22 Large vents promote cooling airflow
  • Highly adjustable retention system dials in the fit
  • MIPS technology aims to reduce the rotational forces in certain crashes
  • Item #LZR002K

Comfortable, runs small

Measured 58cm right on cusp of M to L. Got a M shipped two day prior to race. Really glad I did. Even with L fully tightened down was still loose. Matte finish looks sharp. MIPS is a great added secured given my riding stye and location (added risk). Like possibility of Lazer Blade+ Aeroshell accessory.

Nice helmet at a reasonable price but I *almost* returned it for being too large even dialed in. I've been wearing size large helmets for 20+ years and this one was HUGE even when dialed in all the way. Thankfully I took the time to look a little closer and discovered a tiny label *under* the MIPS lining saying "move up or down for better fit" and after some fiddling found a set screw accessible through the top vent. Moving that around totally fixed the fit but it was nowhere in the instructions. I suspect that the factory is putting these in an overly large default setting, like "small XL" not "average large." Now it fits without any movement for more heads this is probably a better solution than downsizing. See images.

Purchased largely due to MIPS safety feature. The Lazer Blade helmet is comfortable but a bit heavier than my previous helmet which was a Giro. Overall I believe the helmet is a quality product at a reasonable price point.

Broke after ~10 months of normal use

I really liked this helmet as it fit well and seemed to breathe well (although it was a little heavy and bulky), but I do not recommend it. The plastic 'harness' on the inside of the helmet (which you use to adjust the fit so the helmet is secure on your head) broke for me under normal use after ~10 months (see photo). I'm afraid this is a design flaw, as it's an extremely skinny piece of plastic that seems easy to break. Once this piece breaks, the helmet can no longer be tightened, so it no longer can properly fit on your head and provide safety.

A friend was recently hit by a car and he said his MIPS saved him, so I had to go upgrade my helmet. This is a GREAT helmet. I wasn't willing to pay for the uber high end Lazer, and glad I didn't. This is really comfortable and I hope I never have to put it to the test. Very comfortable.

I didn't know what size to order so I order a medium and large My head size is 59cm Medium fit too tight and it looks too small for my head, looks like I am wearing a kids helmet. Large is just a little big but fits better and it looks perfect

This is the 2nd helmet of this style I've purchased this year. The 1st one was ruined in a collision with a vehicle, The helmet did its job well when it counted. My head hit the road hard enough to crack and permanently deform the styrofoam insert and rumple the outer shell. Other than a couple of very minor lacerations from the edges of the MIP insert (probably because my head is shaved bald) no other injuries to my head. Satisfied enough to purchase another! Looks good, fits well and worked as advertised. A more than reasonable price too!

My previous helmet was fine and lasted eight years or so but it was time for an upgrade. Wanted to have MIPS and like the ventilation on this helmet. My head measures 58.5 cm so I am right between M and L. Ordered the medium but it was too tight no matter how much I tried to loosen it. Exchanged it for the large and at first it seemed too big. Had to adjust it down nearly as far as possible but fits great now. The dial on top is only one part that made a difference for me. Raising the height was also required and the combination did the trick. Road 50 miles this morning and didn't even notice I had it on it was so comfortable!

This helmet fits snugly and doesn't jostle around on rough pavement. It vents well and seems to have plenty of adjustment. It fit me true to size per the size chart. The best feature is that I don't notice anything bad about it when I'm riding. For the cost, it's a home run.

Planning to buy this item.. My head size is 59.5”. Should i get a medium or a large? Im a large based on the brand’s sizing but comments here says it runs large..

Hi Jaime, A size large is a perfect fit for a 59.5cm head circumference.
