Wide feet, happy trails.
Alleviating the torturous routine of squeezing your wider feet into standard cycling shoes, the Lake Men's MX237 Mountain Bike Shoe accommodates bigger feet on the trail with their widened shape. Bumping out the width of the shoe by as much as 15mm, the MX237 alleviates the tingly sensation and pressure points caused by wearing overly tight shoes. The MX237 carries many of Lake's best technologies for unrelenting speed and foot-conforming comfort when you're slaloming down twisty singletrack and dissecting punishing lines on the trail.
Smooth and supple, the full grain leather upper conforms to your feet over time, much like your favorite slippers. Perforated holes exhaust heat as your ride in warmer conditions. Another stand-out feature is the dual Boa closure, which independently tightens the forefoot and heel to alleviate heel lift without cramping your toes.
Elevating you atop the podium of your local race series, the Competition last and Race carbon fiber sole transfer every watt of available power into forward momentum. By directing power output through the ball of your foot to the pedals, the MX237 creates a highly efficient platform that minimizes wasted energy during racing and training. And for instances where hike-a-bike is necessary, molded rubber lugs deliver aggressive traction across slick rocks, roots, and muddy trails.

Finally a shoe that fits
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
My feet are a little wide and I have always struggled to find shoes that were wide enough without being much longer than I need. Lake is one of a very few brands that delivers on the promise. I have ridden the shoes almost every day over the past 3 months for commutes and exercise rides in a good range of temperatures (Utah summer to Dutch fall) and have been very happy with one small caveat; the shoe is wide but the two box is not particularly large so my toenail can rub on the roof of the shoe. Fortunately, the shoe is leather in this area so it has broken in with time and I am finding a comfortable fit. I assume I can get the shoe stretched if the problem persists.
Other notable features include a nice, stiff sole but soft and rounded tread so that walking is acceptable while cycling efficiency is excellent. This is probably the 4th shoe like this I have had, all SPD with the idea of a commuting shoe that also worked on longer rides. The Lake is the best compromise I have found so far.
Size is something that I had to experiment with by purchasing three different sizes and keeping the best. Backcountry makes this option easy.
Happy Feet at last.

I'm a long time cyclist with wide feet. I've tried many many shoes over the years and I've worn custom road shoes for the last 10 years. My custom shoes were wearing out and weren't ever as comfortable as I had hoped. I tried the Lake MX237 and I love them. Most wide sized cycling shoes aren't actually very wide. The Lakes are fit me and allow my feet some space where I need it. The Boa's work well and are easy to adjust. I substituted Specialized insoles for a little more support. I'm now wearing my MX237's on my road bike too with XTR pedals. The shoes fell like they are very well made with high quality materials. I am very happy with these shoes.
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
My wide irregular feet have been cramped up inside some specialized shoes for a couple of years. They felt like they were in a vice. The first time that I put these shoes on my feet, they felt better than my casual work shoes. I normally wear a 12 wide and ordered a 47 in this shoe .I have worn these three or four times now and look forward to putting them on each time.
Good MTB Shoes
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
The person I bought these for has really wide feet, but these fit nice so his feet don't hurt while riding.
I wanted to like it...

I really wanted to like this shoe. Fit great, full leather, loved the clips but... It was so hot after the first ride I took them back. Very little ventilation and felt my old cheapo's were much better ventilation wise.
