CX237 Cycling Shoe

Lake’s CX237 Road Shoes are designed to be both comfortable and brutally efficient, a line not often walked this gracefully in the footwear department. To close the shoes, you’ll find two Boa reels, able to be adjusted independently so you can lock in your heel without strangling your forefoot. But the upper that closes around your foot is made from full-grain leather, a choice made for comfort and a supremely personalized fit. It’ll only get better the more you wear it.

The sole is Lake’s Race Carbon. It’s a carbon fiber sole built on Lake’s Competition last, which is designed to direct all of your power output through the ball of your foot, but still allow a bit of wiggle room when your feet swell.

Very Comfy Shoes

I first bought an earlier version of these Lakes about 4-5 years ago. Road them pretty hard (maybe 1000 miles per year.) They were very comfortable including on long (40-90 mile) rides in the heat of the summer and warm enough in cold spring and fall days. However, the fit around the balls of my feet (13D dress shoes) was too big and I had a crease when cinched tight. Second issue was the irreplaceable heal protector, and I wore the heals down to the nub. So they got relegated to my indoor training. I replaced the older pair with this product last spring. It is a slightly new cut, and compared to the old, the front foot area is snugger and perfect for me and I had a great season of riding, with terrific comfort even on the longest rides (7 day 450 mile trip.) And the heal replacement means I'll use them forever! Only caveat, get bootie covers for rainy days. They suck up rain like a sponge and become very heavy and slow to dry out. Also, note that they might start out feeling a little too snug, but a) they will stretch a little, and b) how they fit when clipped in is a tad different when standing on the ground. Consider both when deciding whether to send them back.
