    Wildcat Trail Running Shoe

The Women’s Wildcat Trail Running Shoe includes the same super-sticky FriXion rubber that you find on La Sportiva’s climbing shoes, so you know it’ll stay put on the slick stuff. La Sportiva also added aggressive lugs for increased traction on loose surfaces and an AirMesh upper for breatability on days when the trail is hot, hard, and dusty.

    • Trail shoes for conquering rough and rugged terrain
    • Durable mesh cage provides a secure, stable fit
    • Plenty of cushioning for rocky, technical trails
    • Super grip on outsole ready to conquer slick rock

Best light weight, stability trail shoes

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have purchased at least four pairs of La Sportiva’s Wildcat trail shoe, after not being able to find a shoe that offered the same comfort, support and ventilation. I have used these for long distance trail runs and hikes. Going to keep buying them. La Sportiva, do not change these! Except for prettier colors! ;)

    No breaking in required!!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Love these right out of the box. I wore them on a long hike yesterday and they are super comfortable. This shoe runs true to size. I’m a 7.5 in Nike and purchased the 38.5 and they fit perfectly.

    Best trail shoes!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

After not being able to find comfortable, light, stability trail shoes for distance trail running, I tried these. Awesome, comfortable, light, supportive and durable! Please do not change the design

    the BEST

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

used these for 600 miles on the AT. highly breathable (they dry quick!), durable, and comfortable. they felt broken in from the moment i got them. no hot spots or blisters. my feet are narrow with high arches and they supported them just fine! no need for other insoles. the tread is superrr grippy, always felt safe on any surface. i normally wear 7.5 and got size 39.5 which is perfect for hiking.

    Best Trail Running Shoes

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 37
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 160lbs

These were a gift for my girlfriend and she has been so stoked on them. They have awesome grip for trail running and excellent cushion for longer runs. She says they run pretty true to size.

    Great, Lightweight., Grippy Shoe!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I bought these for those early morning icy runs with the dog. He seems to think that I have traction like he does. I've worn them a couple times and I love them! They are grippy! Super comfy and fit great. I bought my normal size.

    So pleased!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 36
    • Height: 5'1"
    • Weight: 130lbs

This is my 1st pair of wildcats. I seriously have never worn a shoe so comfortable. No rubbing, no blisters from the moment I put them on. I'm a size 6 shoe, but I decided to order a 36.5 due to reviews of them fitting slightly large. They fit like a glove with my running socks. I can't speak about their durability yet as I have only worn them for about 4 runs. They are so light and I got compliments about how cute they are @ the gym. Well worth the $$. My other running shoes are collecting dust!

    Hiking shoes

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 39
    • Height: 5'4"
    • Weight: 115lbs

Love this shoe! Great arch support. Took it on a four day backpacking trip, 51 miles in the Sierras and no blisters. Im queen of blisters so this is a good thing. They ran a bit big, originally I bought the next size up and too large. Even with these I wore liners and socks. Im glad I finally found a hiking shoe that fits my skinny, boney feet and feels good.

    Awesome shoe!

I myself have had several pairs of Wildcats and love them. Just got a pair for my wife and she has nothing but great things to say. The shoes are really light and breath phenomenally well. Traction is best in class. This may be her fist pair but it won't be her last. She is a 6 and the 37 fits great. Only taking away one star due to durability. They seem to burn out pretty quick but then again weight and breath ability come at a price.

      Happy toes on mellow days.

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: True to size

My sister loves how comfy these shoes are at the gym, walking down the street, and at light hikes, but she kind of wishes they were more durable for heavier activities. For example, she went on a rocky hike and stepped in some puddles, and at the end her feet were sore and damp. Great for light activities though!

      these are my jam!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

I am normally a size 7 and ordered a 37, they fit me perfect! These are probably my favorite pair of running kicks ever. I've used these all over the place and they never fail to deliver. I use these at the gym, trail running, light hiking, taking my dog for a run around the park. They really are a do it all. I love how breathable they are in the upper material. Great for those warmer temps but still not too breathable when it cools off. They are super durable as well.

      Love em!

I wear these almost daily to work and have a separate pair to run in. Nice traction and a wider toe box make it the perfect shoe for some trail running. They have a stable heel that is nice if you are wearing them at work, like I do. I typically wear an 8.5 and I ordered a sz 40 in these.

      Run Short

I wear a Dansko size 38 womens, and I spoke with a gear rep at this site that recommended I get the 38 in these running shoes. Unfortunately, they were too short. I have narrow feet and the width was great, but definitely too short, and I like my running shoes not super roomy. I ordered the 39, and the length is great. Still have to decide on whether they may be too wide. They are not ultra cushiony when you lace them up, compared to some Saucony's and Asics I've had in the past. They look very durable. The orange color is awesome too! Not too bright, just really fun.

My wife found the exact same thing. La Sportiva can tend to run short and narrow. She sized up 1/2 size and the Wildcats are working great for her now. Remember that Backcountry offers lifetime unconditional returns.

        La Sportiva wildcat trail shoes

I bought a pair of Wildcats during training for an upcoming race (100K trail). I really had no foot problems in the race and the course is fairly technical, including stream crossings and lots of rocks. The shoes are lightweight yet feel supportive and have great grip on slippery terrain. My only complaint is that in making them super breathable there is not much foot protection from rocks on top or at the sides. I would definitely recommend them though and have already bought a second pair.

Compared to the men's version of this shoe, does the women's version have a narrower fit, or are they comparable? Is a women's size 40 the same as a men's size 40? Thanks.

          Best Answer

I would say they have more of a narrow fit as almost all La Sportiva's have. I talked to one of the La Sportiva reps and he said that the women's shoes are just a little bit more narrow than the men's sizes even though they are the same length.

I need to know about sizes!
I usualy wear a size 10 women but run for 20 years on size11 asics tennis shoes. Men's sizes I mostly buy a size 10 for race. Which will be my size for this shoe? maybe 43?

Denise, buying shoes online can be tough, because the right fit is so important. Luckily Backcountry takes pride in their return policy. If I were you I would start with the 43 as La Sportiva running shoes tend to run a half size small.

If time is a huge issue, you can order two pairs and then keep the pair that fits best and return the other pair.

          Hope this helps!

Does anyone know about sizing/fit on these? True to size?

I've been running in the Brooks Cascadia...

I've been running in the Brooks Cascadia and am looking for something with a lower profile but a similar level of cushioning and lateral stability (both sides). I'm really curious about these Wildcats but they aren't in the running stores near where I live. Can someone comment on how low to the ground they are compared to the Cascadia or the Fireblade? Also, are the soles flexible -- do they bend when you toe off or stay straight like hiking shoes do? Thanks in advance for your insights.

          Best Answer

To make a comparison, the Wildcats are half way between the Fireblades and the Cascadias. They have more of the "softer" feel (but not as soft) that the Cascadia offers, but it also feels lower to the ground (but not as low to the ground) that the Fireblade offers. The soles aren't as flexible as I would prefer, but it didn't take me long to get used to that aspect of the shoe. When you try them on, they have the same feel as the Fireblades; a little more narrow near the toe than what you may be used to in the Cascadia.

          Hope this helps!
