Why We Like The TXS GTX Backpacking Boot

We like to stay light on our feet on the trail without skimping on support with this reliable backpacking boot from La Sportiva. The TXS GTX boot offers us a supportive design thanks to its stabilizing midsole and higher cut, while a waterproof GORE-TEX membrane and wet-traction outsole deliver the protection and performance we need for spending a few days at the mercy of fickle mountain weather.

Awesome

I've used it several times

I've been using La Sportiva for a while, just changed the boots because the previous ones worn out. They are very good in cold weather, specially when there's snow (and ice) and you have to use crampons. I wear 8,5, so I bought 40 and they fit well. I recomend it!

awesome

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

love these boots. I am required to wear boots for something I do and took a chance on these hoping they would feel like my TX3s. exact same size as my TX3s and have a very similar feel overall. true to la sportivas sizing. I am a 7.5 but usually buy 8s in most of my athletic shoes. these I bought in 8.5. super happy with my purchase.

No ankle support

I?m a big fan of La Sportiva?s shoes, the ankle support and narrow fit is usually a slam dunk for me, and these are so cute I expected a win, but they have no ankle support so unfortunately had to return them. Ended up going with Salewa, also a great fit for narrow feet, tho be sure to get the Mountain GTX if you need better ankle support, as the Alpine series fits much like these, and actively pitched my ankle inward.

Can't imagine a better hiking shoe

I hope I can buy these shoes again and again after I wear out my current pair. I've taken them on various 50+ mile backpack trips, scrambling/climbing on 14ers and 13ers, winter snow summits, etc. They're sturdy enough for backpacking with weight, light enough that I've run in them for a few miles (when nature has forced it) and incredible on any type of condition when scrambling. Love the approach shoe sole as well. I've typically had issues with other shoes (including other Sportivas) being too narrow in the toe, but these shoes have a wider toe box which is especially helpful when my feet swell after a long day or at high elevation. These are definitely the best shoes I've ever owned
