    TX3 Approach Shoe

Guide books have a way of making the approach sound pretty straightforward, but after multiple creek crossings, backtracking, and sketchy scrambles, you'll be glad you were prepared for the unexpected with your La Sportiva Women's TX3 Approach Shoes. With a quick-drying polyester mesh upper, protective rubber rand, and super-sticky Vibram rubber sole, the TX3 is a veritable all-terrain crusher with the chops to tackle just about any rocky surface you encounter. La Sportiva pulled all the stops with this one by adding it torsionally-rigid STB sytem, MEMlex underfoot cushioning, and non-slip mesh lining for a cool, comfortable, and secure fit for the approach.

    • A versatile approach shoe for technical and mixed terrain
    • Mesh uppers deliver breathable comfort on warm approaches
    • Rubber toe rand defends against rocky trail encounters
    • Traverse injection Memlex midsole offers all-day comfort
    • Sticky rubber soles keep your footing secure on slick rock

    Great option!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Got these as a gift and "Comfortable, lightweight shoes for walking around in the desert! the mesh uppers are great for keeping my feet from overheating and allowing any water that gets in to also get back out. The sole is nice and grippy and hopefully will help me stick better to canyon walls. I have slightly wider feet and these fit like a glove."

    My go to Approach shoe!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am in love with these shoes. They are light, comfortable, durable, and grippy. It is true that they run big (I sized down 1/2 a size from my normal size 7). I have loved scrambling in these shoes, they have always felt secure and solid. I am thinking about bringing these shoes on the JMT later this summer but I haven't deiced yet. The fun colors are an awesome bonus!

    used for wet canyoneering

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

There's a lot of reviews stating they run big, which I think is true. I usually wear an 8 US and went to 7.5 US which was great. Got them for some wet canyoneering in Zion and I loved how grippy the soles are. They make me feel like a backcountry goat ;) The side wall and toes with the grippy rubber were a major help for the little nooks and crannies. Uppers show VERY slight signs of wear, but I think the wear is reasonable for the work I was doing, I expected more wear. I've washed them as directed and because they were wet for 3 days they're starting to smell a wee bit funky. I got these hoping they'd be more viable for wet adventures which I think is true compared with so many of the leather approach shoes. Hoping I can get some feedback on if sink the stink would work for this mildew issue. Followed directions on box for cleaning but I think canyoneering water is just too dank.

    comfort vs durability

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large

I got these last minute for a major climbing trip. They didn't have my size --I got the size US 6.5 which was incorrectly translated from a size 37.5 (La Sportiva seems to do this a lot). They were definitely a size too big. DESPITE this they held me up while I climbed for a week in the North Cascades - they were super sticky on rock, really comfortable and decent for the hike in on scree and talus due to the lugs on the bottom. The fabric makes me wonder if they would get holes really fast, but I really liked them and would be tempted to get them in my size. Generally I wear a size 6.5 or 7, ie a size 36-37, so if you're going by US sizes, size down.

    Runs big

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 41

Much lighter than my Boulder X's. The black that wraps from the sides of the forefoot back around the shoe and the heel is a really tough foam type material. At first it seems like it might get torn up easily but at second glance, I think only time will tell as its actually burlier than I thought. The colors are awesome! My only complaint is that they run big about half a size. I have found that in the past year when I have re-ordered shoes from sportiva that even in the same model I have to order a half size down. I am a solid W's 9.5 (sometimes 10 if its a boot) and the size 41 in these is just big enough I can fit my thumb between my heel and the back of the shoe. Will reorder a half size down.
