I am a big fan of La Sportiva's climbing shoes and was excited to try this pair of hiking shoes during my thru hike on the PCT. The traction once again proved to be some of the best I have experienced in a hiking or trail runner shoe. These shoes also offered great toe-guard support/stiffness to protect against rocks. I found that while the heel had good cushioning, the forefoot of the shoe lacked adequate cushioning to protect against loose/pointy rocky surfaces. Disappointingly, it left my metatarsal heads progressively more painful on rougher terrain. There was also an issue for me with the narrow width of the shoe that kept me from being able to continue using them. They could work well for a hiker with narrow feet who is not doing significant daily mileage on softer right terrain. The shoes seemed very durable on the tread rubber and the uppers.

Best trail running/hiking shoes. Period.
I am 60 years old. Run all my life. Developed in the last 2 years Plantar ficiiatis and Aquiles tendonitis, both almost gone. I needed a trail running shoe that is stable, well cushioned (not too hard; not too spongie), and protects my feet well. These shoes are absolute perfection on all these features. Actually best trail running shoe I have ever had. Period. DON'T CHANGE THE MATERIALS OR DESIGN! Highly recommended. Great materials quality. Amazing value for the price.

Traction, Cushion, Durability, and Comfort
A less expensive version of the Akyra with better ventilation and warm weather performance. Awesome high milage comfort and lots of room in the toebox without feeling sloppy. Great shoe that really surprised me. Traction is hard to beat, very stable in snow, mud, and scree.

Great basic shoe
It has all the right stuff for a lightweight hiker and around town Summer beater. Good support. Good cushioning. Minimal "flashyness". The toe of the shoe is well designed for durability, minimizing the likelihood of delamination and increasing the coverage on the big toe side where more wear is likely. I love how La Sportiva shoes fit me and how well constructed they are. I am not a big fan of the huge logo that they print on the sides of the majority of their shoes. This one also has this, but at least it is toned down in color so that it doesn't hit you in the face.
