Excellent boots. Fit and finish is spot on. Extremely comfortable for long hikes and full days in the boots. On or off trail, great traction and support. Two small issues: the waterproofing is not amazing. You're feet won't be "wet" but they will be "moist" if you walk across some streams. Suboptimal. My 2nd issue is the lifespan. I wear these 3 days/week with a non-trivial amount of off trail scrambling in southern Appalachia. In 9 months I have blown them out in two spots. I hike 3-10 miles each day I am wearing them (for work) so this is a lot of use relative to the weekend hiker. So while I cannot speak highly enough about the comfort and support, for my next pair I'll be trying a different Sportiva boot, hoping to crest the 1-year mark.

Super lightweight but strong boots

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit:
True to size

These are just the shoes that I was looking for: comfortable, lightweight, strong materials. I just started using them but they feel durable. I have wide feet and they fit nicely. I'll certainly recommend this for medium to long hikes.

Do these have a protective toe?

Hey Andrew, These don't have a steel toe if that is what you mean but the toe is protected by an extension of sole's rubber and nubuck leather. Hope that answers your question. Hit me up at mbova@backcountry.com if you have any other questions or need help setting up an order. Cheers, Mike
