    Protective performance to the core.

The La Sportiva Men's Core High GTX Boot uses Gore-Tex Surround technology to enhance waterproofing and breathability for backpackers and hikers. Unlike traditional waterproof membranes, the Surround membrane wraps completely around the foot for waterproof protection, and it ensures excellent breathability through the sole's breathable mesh inserts. La Sportiva's Nano-Cell upper fuses ventilated AirMesh with protective PU reinforcements for comfort and long-lasting durability.

Underfoot, La Sportiva worked with Vibram to give the Core High GTX Boot's sole plenty of traction on any terrain. The Impact Brake System places slanted lugs at the heel to increase braking power and decrease impact forces by 20%. A compression-molded EVA midsole gives you plenty of cush for long trails, and the TPU inserts ensure stability on rugged ground.

Breathes well, not a fan on the insoles

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 43.5

I have done a few little hikes on these so far including some loose rocky trails, and sandy slot canyons. The first thing I noticed was the insole presses against my heel funny and caused a hot spot after 5-6 miles. I swapped out for some superfeet carbon insoles and have done a few more hikes and that seems to be better for me. So far they breath well and stay dry which is what my sweaty feet needed. Spending a week in Bryce with the new insoles so I will update my review after that. I listened to everyone and went a half size bigger and they fit great.

    Great boot thus far

I purchased this boot online from Backcountry (I live in South Florida, so there is not that much choice of hiking boots in the local sports stores). I had to return the original pair as this boot seems to run small, probably more than one size. I purchased this boot for my trekking trip to Nepal in October, and I wanted to make sure I had sufficient time to break it in. However, it appears this boot does not require a breaking in period as it was super comfortable from the first time I wore it. It is extremely light and breathable, and it provides ample ankle support and stability as opposed to the Salomon trail runners that I purchased for a hike in the Swiss Alps last year. Thus far, I am very impressed with the boot. I was able to pick it up at a discounted price of $136.00, but even at $ 200.00, I would consider this to be a good value.

    Super comfortable, already leaking.

    PROS:
I love the comfort of this boot. I have day hiked in these about 50 miles total. I have hiked in the cold and snowy to the middle of summer and never really been uncomfortable. They are warm-ish in the winter and cool-ish in the summer. The boots look great as well. The traction is awesome. I live in the Pacific Northwest and these grip great, even when wet.
    CONS:
They run about a half size small. I normally wear 12US and needed a 12.5US in these. They are not real protective. The outer shell while durable does not offer much more protection than a thick sneaker against rocks or roots on the sides of your foot. Being in the Pacific Northwest, it is wet here a lot. Lots of water on the ground. These boots have started to leak a bit around the toes and bottom of the foot. Not sloshing around or anything but still leaking.

This is a GoreTex boot, and I bought them because of that, but they are leaking which is not cool. I have not trashed them at all. I would say I have barely rubbed the initial texture off the treads so they are not that old. Probably another 500+ miles on the tread.

Good thing about GoreTex though is that if they leak they warranty them.

    Excellent Boots -

I used these boots on the Tour du Mont Blanc trek and came away extremely impressed with these boots. I used the boots on rainy days in slippery ascents / descents and the grip was tenacious. Feet remained dry throughout rain & streams, while the breathability was phenomenal. I never once felt my feet were overheating, even on very hot days. I highly recommend these boots.

    Watch out

Really I don't know if it's only me, but I got this shoes in and is comfortable, good looking and supportive (30 lbs pack) but it has an issue, I took my shoes to a local outdoors store so I could climb a rock ( fake) to simulate hiking, the rock it's only 3 feet high with a good incline, this shoes slid like I was on skates, so they had a pair of La sportiva Syntesis ( low version of this shoes) just as bad, what's up with that? What is the break thing do anyway? If I was out on a trail and hit a wet rock? On my ass I would go for sure, La sportiva you disappointed me. So I say, do your research before you buy it, or you may find your self on your ass with a 30lb pack

In the past I used La Sportiva Trail shoes without a problem, except for their sizing which is all over the place. I have gone from a 41.5 to 42.5 depending on the model. What is their Problem?
Thanks for your honest review, I will stay away from these.
