    Climb in comfort.

In this day and age of computer-mapping the deep seas and highest points, a few firsts still remain untouched by technology. Go find yourself a hidden boulder or secret rock seam and smear yourself across it while wearing the La Sportiva Women's Chaxi Pants. Rugged nylon pants won't show a slip or scrape, and the comfortably wide waistband folds over when you need a little more breathing room. Six pockets, including a toothbrush stash pocket, hold items for the approach and the climb.

    Already in love

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large

I just got these and already want to live in them. They are super comfy and fantastic when I'm climbing. I love the cuffs at the end so I'm not stepping in my hems when I climb. I will admit the waist will take some getting used to, since it's tight on the bottom half of the waist elastic, but loose on top. It's a little unflattering but I usually wear long shirts so it's not a big deal for me. But I prefer to wear in not folded over. Overall though, I am very pleased. I sized up to a large and they are snug. I generally wear small and medium in other pants.

    Great for climbing!

I purchased these pants as a gift for a friend, and here's what she had to say about them:

"These pants are literally the best money I have ever spent. They fit like a dream, plenty of give for climbing, super tough yet lightweight and they look fiiiine. I'm pretty tall/ thin so it can be difficult to find pants that are long enough, but these fit the bill. With the cuffs at the end, I imagine they would still work if you're average height/ on the shorter side. I usually wear a 26" waist, and I got a medium in the chaxis, so they may run a bit small. I got the berry, and am probably coming back for a pair in grey soon, since I wear them every day. You can certainly go cheaper with a comparable pair of the BD cuffed climbing pants, and if you're on a budget go for it. If you can swing the extra $$ though, these are SO worth it. Buy these pants and don't look back. "

Pants are Awesome - Size Up.

I purchased these pants for backpacking, hiking, camping and climbing and they have been so good to me. The pants are so comfy and flexible but the material feels thick enough that I don't worry about damaging the pants at all. The number of pockets and their depth is great as well!

I normally wear a Medium for most pants but I read reviews mentioning that these fit a bit smaller, so, I ordered large. I felt the large was the right fit, however, the legs were too long for me (I have short legs - inseam is 30"). But that didn't matter much to me because of the elastic cuffs at the ankles! I would definitely recommend these to anyone who needs a great pair of pants for camping, hiking or climbing. I basically lived in these during our West Coast Trail trip where I wore it through rain, mud and sun!

Durable pant for climbing and scrambling

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

    These pants are solid.
well made, sturdy, substantial fabric, deep pockets, cuffed ankles (awesome for short-legged people like me). Great for climbing, hiking, scrambling in cool to cold weather.

Don't pack down very small, too hot for summer/indoor climbing, not the most slimming.

    These Pants Are Sweet

Super comfy and highly durable. Well suited for climbing, bushwhacking trails or honestly chilling after the fun. They run a little small. I think these are definitely a staple for any outdoor wardrobe. Super cute.

      Perfect for all activities!

I got these pants for my sister and she loves them! She says they are her spring/fall go to. I originally got them for her for climbing, but i'm pretty sure she just never takes them off and wears them for all activities. DEFINITELY SIZE UP. She is usually an XS in clothing but she had to go to a size small for the pants to fit her just right.

Pretty awesome (the gray ones, that is)

I'm always complaining that sports gear marketed for women only comes in pink and purple, or else has flowers and butterflies all over it. The fact that these pants have been sold out EVERYWHERE for months, came back in stock, and were sold out again in a matter of days—well, the gray ones anyway... I think the pink ones are still available in every size—speaks to the fact that women want both function AND form. And these pants deliver that.

These pants are SUPER comfy. I love the stretch, and I love how versatile they are. I often pull the legs up to wear like capris, and they stay put on their own. I like how you can roll up the top of the pants under your harness (beware: it's not flattering to wear like that without a harness), and roll them down when you're bouldering. The pockets are accessible, though the toothbrush pocket is oddly placed.

The one weird thing that La Sportive does with all of their pants is use a different, very thick, textured fabric for the stash pocket in front. It causes the fabric to stick out in a weird way. I have no idea what the purpose of that is, but I don't hate it enough to return them.

All in all, these are great climbing pants. Order a size up. You won't regret it.

Hi Laralyn! Did you find the x-small fit you well? I am about your height and weight. I am leaning towards ordering the x-small but sounds like the pants run on the smaller size. I am wondering if I should size up to a small. I am about 5'6ish and around 110lbs. Any advice would be appreciated!

      Hey @mse105740377-0,

I think the XS for you would probably be a good bet. I ended up ordering a second set in SM because they were no longer available in XS. Surprisingly, the fit wasn't much different! The only major difference is in the waistband. If you've got hips, you might find yourself scooting them a bit to get them up and over your hips. But after that point, the fit will be great! If you want them to go on a little bit easier, rest easy in knowing that the SM is still a pretty good fit.

      Hope this helps!!

      Designed with function in mind!

These pants are pretty amazing and definitely designed for climbing. The cuffed ankles keep pants from coming over climbing shoes and compromising rubber to rock contact, negating the need to roll up the bottom of your pants allowing you to stay warmer in cool conditions. The rollable waistband is pretty rad as well. When worn up, it provides a slight bit of padding under a harness and can provide a bit of extra warmth. When folded over, the waistband sits low and gives you some breathing room, I usually wear the band up for rope climbing and down for bouldering. The fabric is incredibly stretch and durable allowing you move freely and knee bar as you wish without scuffing large holes into your pants. The fabric doesn't seem to have any wear even after a few bushwhack approaches in the desert-which is rare. The coral color is a bit bright, but very fun. I usually wear a size 2-4 and ordered a medium, the fit is perfect.

The fit, the fabric, the flexibility...simply amazing!!! I've seen nothing else like this pant.

This tough but flexible and well fitting fabric is like magic. It seems soft and thin, but it holds up against abrasive rock, and will stretch as far and your muscles and tendons will allow. Heck, take them to yoga. They'd be perfect there, as well. The high waist band can easily fold down and stay down, if you want. But, it looks better up high, so why would you?!

I'm 135-140 and 5'8. I usually wear mediums and a size 4-5 pant. I got the medium and the large. The large would have been fine with a nice, comfortable look. The mediums, however, had a more tempting fit and felt snug as a glove, so I went with the mediums. My only issue it that they are out of my tax bracket, so I could only get one pair. Oh, what a pity!

      Questions? Let me know.

comfortable stretchy material provides for the ultimate climbing pant! I was apprehensive given the price, however totally worth the investment. 10/10 would purchase these pants again.

      Great DURABLE climbing pant

I bought these after ripping huge holes in 3 pairs of pants while climbing in the mountains. Ive had these pants for about 6 months and they look almost brand new despite weekly abuse. They are tough, lightweight and marvelously stretchy. I am 5'5, 135lbs and a medium fits my larger thighs and bottom. Going to purchase a 2nd pair. My male climbing partner is jealous of my pants!

It's a tie between form and function

I'm 5'7, probably around 130lb, got a medium and they fit perfectly. The material is extremely high quality, it has a ton of stretch but isn't remotely clingy, doesn't feel static-y or cheap. The fit is really flattering, which I didn't think I cared a ton about but now that I look decent in these, I do. They are long in the leg and I think they'd still fit even if I were 5'10. They run a tad small compared to vanity sizing.

          Pretty freaking great.

Having used these for 4-5 days of thrutching, finger cracks, squeeze chimneys, running it out, sweating in 90 degrees, and full-body-friction mantles, i'd say these pants are so fetch. The coral color is fantastic, and the fabric is super stretchy.

Even though I am pretty lanky (5'9") and fit the description of the size small, the mediums fit just fine. They are super long. Note, i wear straight cut everything and fit mens clothing usually better than women's and they are a dream.

One complaint, no mid-thigh pocket so they're pretty useless for pockets with a harness on. Also I am really not sure what the suede pocket accent is for... Mmkay.

          Are these pants water/wind resistant?

Hi Autumn, These pants are not really going to be water or wind resistant. They will provide a bit of protection from the elements, but not much. If you have any other questions, please reach out to me directly and I'll get you taken care of. - Matthew Pizza - Expert Gearhead

I WANT these pants so bad! Not often I get a little crazy over pants. I am 5'5" and am considering a small as the comments mention they are long. Will you carry a small or are you getting another shipment in of the colors besides coral?

No butts about it I have a big one. Do those pants have room for my rear? In jeans I always wear Levi Curvy jeans and they work well, but I have not found a climbing/hiking pant that works for me.
