Small, compact, works in most situations

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This light has been really useful for most of my applications that I needed it. If you're into reading while out camping, this probably isn't the light for you. But if you only need some good ambient light, this will work out quite well. Highlights is how small and compact it is, and the ability to be used as a lantern, or a flashlight.
    Nice all-around light.

    Adequate - Not water resistant

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought both sizes of the lantern and used them for 2 summers for canoe camping. They work great as long as they are protected from ANY moisture, even misty weather. Mine always get packed in a waterproof drybag. They are heavier than I anticipated too - not great for backpacking. They are very bright when new, but it didn't seem to last.

    Good light for smaller area

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This light is great for an area that is not real large or expansive. Great for a three person tent, maybe even a little larger. The flashlight mode puts off a good deal of light and its handy for switching between lantern and hand light mode. It might be a little heavy for some backpackers, but its versatility makes up for that in my opinion. Sturdy build, about the size of a soda can, just a little shorter.

    Very Good Light

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This small, collapsable lantern is always in my camping gear bag. For a large campsite, two lanterns would be helpful. It's light-weight and very very durable. It's bounced around camp, it fell into the water, and still works great. Being able to collapse it protects the globe portion, which I really like. I'm ordering a second one so I can keep one hung outside on a tree and keep another one in the tent.
