So far these are very nice shoes.

True to size

So far, I have just worn these around the house or going to the store, wore them at work one day. Most insoles of shoes feel a bit hard on my left foot but these have been quite comfortable right away. For me the size is just right not too loose or snug. I have some other hiking shoes now (KEEN different style) so these Targhee ll shoes will likely wait awhile before I take them on a trail. A little more breaking in and they be really nice.

Great shoes, they feel super durable and are comfortable with time.. Got these for my dad before a trip to South America and they worked great. Only thing is that I'd definitely recommend that you break them in before you just go straight into it.

I gave these shoes as a gift and received great feedback: "This is my 4th pair of the Keen Targhee shoes over the span of several years. I'm pretty hard on shoes and the quality can't be beat. They are waterproof, comfortable, and look great!"

Runs Small

Have several pairs of Keen's, most show made in Oregon, noticed right away that this looked small. Putting them back to back with old pair showed the "new" size 9.5 was an 1" -1 1/4" shorter from the old size 9.5. All the other shoes from Keen showed " Proudly made in Oregon USA" Noticed the new pair are made in Thialand. Backcountry was great in returning them.

Amazing Hiking Shoes

I have worn Keen’s of different types for over 10 years, but this was my first pair of hiking shoes. They were incredibly comfortable right out of the box. I am 6’ 2” and 198 pounds, so I like a little bit heavier of a shoe. These are absolutely perfect. The soles are heavy duty, but still very flexible. The leather on them is very nice. Because of the way my heels are shaped, I sometimes have issues with my shoes slipping. I am able to tighten these in a way where there is no slippage at at. They are waterproof, so I found my feet were a little warm in them, but going into fall/winter that is just fine. I deal with a rep at BackCountry.com named Jimmy Elam. He got the shoes out to me really quickly and has always been a ton of help.

Compared to my Murrells the Keen is a heavier shoe and built more solidly. The sizing is off from most brands so the normal size for me (11) is a little loose. I have planned on double socking to hopefully fit that in a little better. I actually prefer the comfort of the Murrells but the Murrells lost their water proofing after just a few hikes. This is unacceptable to me so I'm going to give the KEENS a chance to do it better. I've only done one break in hike of a few miles but the trail was muddy and they kept my feet dry. Time will tell how long they can do that.

Probably the biggest reason I keep trying Keens is that they seem to be some of the most durable shoes out there. I work a job that is just brutal on shoes and I can wear Keens for months longer than any other shoe I've tried. The unfortunate thing is that they don't quite fit my foot as well as others. I have a narrow heel, a high arch, and need a good amount of support. For whatever reason I can't ever seem to dial in a fit that is as comfortable as other shoes I've worn. I normally wear a 10.5 and those are way too loose, I'm now trying a size 10 which fits better at the heel but the toe box is tighter than I like. I want to love Keens as much as so many people seem to but they just don't fit as well as say La Sportivas seem to. However, unless La Sportiva can match the durability of Keen I'll deal with a slightly less comfortable shoe if it means being able to wear them for longer.

I needed a new pair of hiking shoes for an upcoming backpacking trip. After copious amounts of online research I decided to go with the Targhee II hiking shoes. What a mistake. This backpacking trip that I went on was a 30 mile trek on Mauna Loa, HI. The terrain was unforgiving and the Targhee II shoes could not handle it. I wore them for about a week prior and went on one short hike to try and break them in. I suffered many hotspots and blisters, and my feet looked like a mummy by the end of the trip. The shoe started separating from the soles as well as the toe rand. The sides of the shoes looked like I took a cheese grater to them. All this after a 4 day backpacking trip. I have a pair of Vasque hiking shoes that are about 8 years old that look better than the Targhee’s after this trip. Luckily backcountry.com has awesome customer service and they let me return them due to the defect in the soles. I am now waiting for a pair of tried and true Vasque hiking shoes. Don’t waste your money, these shoes suck!

Purchased these for my father. Here's his review "Got my new hiking shoes today! They fit perfectly--cannot wait to make them my everyday shoe while traveling in Europe with our tours. I have had Keen low hikers for my past 2 outdoor shoes, one pair took me up and down Kilimanjaro, and still good for yard shoes. I'm sure they will take good care of my sometimes temperamental feet."

I bought a pair of Targhees way back in the day... before they were cool. They were my favorite hiking shoe then, and the shoe that I have compared all shoes to ever since. Being the gear junkie that I am, I've tried several different brands and models over the years, but always come to the realization that none of them are the Keen Targhee II. Bought a brand new pair of these a month ago, and they are everything I remembered. No break-in period... I took them on a 10 miler right out of the box and they felt like a million bucks. Yeah, the Keen sole probably won't last as long as a rock hard Vibram.... but ask yourself this: Would you rather have a comfortable (and I mean COMFORTABLE) shoe with great traction, or a shoe that lasts 8 years? (Why are you wearing an 8 year old shoe!?!)

I ordered the Targhee II for my husband, the magnet / brindle color is a really nice look. This is at least his third pair of Keen Targhee II low. He uses them for every day work as he is in and out of a truck at construction sites and says they have good support. They have held up well for him. He's tried a few other brands and definitely says the Keen is the best. He has also owned a couple of the Keen sandal / water shoe type. Originally ordered a 9 in this style as he is "in-between" a 9 and a 9.5, but ended up sending them back for the 9.5. The return process was painless and quick turnaround.
