I am an avid hiker and ive been looking for a great pair of all around, all weather hiking boots to last me forever- these are them! They are as comfy as walking on a cloud, and barely required any breaking in (just the tongue and ankle part really). They fit perfectly while still being roomy and have a nice amount of arch support without being too much. They are SUPER cute and look good with any outfit. The tread is super grippy, and these shoes repel water and keep my feet dry and warm but also ventilated. They are also super lightweight despite their chunkiness. Best part - a 1500 lb horse stepped on my foot while I was wearing these shoes, and they saved my toe from being broken. Two weeks later, these shoes are roomy enough to wear over my injured toe and I am already back to hiking. The shoe that got stepped on is just barely scuffed a little. These things are so sturdy. Would HIGHLY recommend these to any hiker and I will probably buy them again once my new pair is worn out (many years from now).

Love!! But some pain

Love these boots!! I hike in them a lot and they definitely hold up to any condition. They were also super comfy straight of the box. I do get some pain on the ball of my foot under my big toe a lot.

Defect in tongue design

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit:
True to size

I've had a previous version of this boot for 3 years, and have used it for hiking and everyday use. They have been great. This new pair failed the first time I wore them. I had pain from the laces on each side of each foot. Upon inspection, the tongue was falling apart on the edges allowing my laces to press against the top of my feet rather than against the padding. Sadly, I can't return these useless boots through backcountry.com due to their return policy.

I bought the mid-tops this year for my long hiking or backpacking days. I've had the low top version for a year now and they fit like a dream from the moment I put them on. I didn't even need to upgrade the inserts. I only gave 4 stars mainly because with the mid-tops, it took a few hikes to really work the boots in, unlike the low-tops. I did put the medium arch insoles in the shoe to replace what was there. I suffer from horrible plantar fasciitis and wanted the extra support. Overall I'm loving both the low-top and mid-top versions. I also love that the boysenberry color comes in a brown base color since that's what color the shoes become no matter what you do.

Great hiking shoe

Very impressed with these, took them out for a moderate steep hike that was about four hours and felt no pain or discomfort, nor any blisters on first wear. Love that the toe area is roomy especially since my feet are wide.

Not for me. Quality shoe tho

I didn't get to test this hiking boot to the limits. It has a built-in arch support for flat footed people- which isn't for me. Judging of the built of the shoe, it would be a durable hiking shoe! From a breathable mesh. waterproof membrane, and great traction!

Would not recommend

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Ive worn the Targhee II boot for years, have 100s of miles on them and swear they are the best boot Ive ever warn. I was eager to replace them for my upcoming Superior Hiking Trail hike, and figured the III's were just the new version. Well, I took these for a walk around my neighborhood and the left boot was so unbearably comfortable - it dug into my ankle and had a weird arch support. Will be returning. I guess for my 100 mi hike next wk I will stick to my old boots, Bummer.

She Loves the KEEN!

Familiarity:
I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

These hiking boots are perfect right out of the box – I was able to just put them on and forget about even wearing these – no pressure points or any discomfort. So I took them out on a 5 mile hike up to Horsetail Falls right away and there were still some patches of snow on the trail (beginning of May), in addition to mud and water. My feet stayed perfectly dry and comfortable the entire hike. Just love these boots and would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a lightweight yet sturdy pair of hiking boots that do not need any time to break in. For sizing, I am a size 9, and I size up to 9.5 in hiking boots to accommodate for thicker socks and the KEENs were true to size in my opinion.

Great waterproof boot

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I used these boots for a light walk on a snowy trail and I loved them! Kept my feet so warm and dry, I was sad the boot didn't go higher than my ankle because anything that the boot wasn't covering was completely soaked by the end of the trail. The fit was great, I got a size 7 and went perfectly with my mid weight socks. I also got them in a size 10 for my husband ( in error, I thought I had gotten the men's style but he still wore these! ) and he said the arch was a little high for him as he has pretty flat feet. He only wore them once for the light snowy trail and they kept his feet so dry and warm. Would recommend this women's boot for anyone with a high arch, male or female. It's nice that his normal men's size fit him in the women's style as well, he wears a 9.5 and I got him the size 10.

Super waterproof!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

These boots are seriously amazing! I demoed them for the first time ice fishing and let me tell you conditions were not ideal. There was so, so much slush, about a good 4/5 inches! These boots kept me totally dry and way warmer than I was expecting, while everyone else was complaining about their feet being numb or frozen I was great. I have also used these for winter hiking/ sledding and again no leakage. I was really surprised this time by the waterproofing because at one point I was knee deep and still my feet were dry. AH MAZING!

Lightweight support and durability

Familiarity:
I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

These things are great. Really light, sustained support, comfortable, the whole works. They're waterproof, but never got too stuffy (granted I've only used them in the winter, but you can kinda tell when a shoe might make you sweat through it in warmer temps). Vibram soles offer excellent grip, and the mid height gives you the ankle support many people crave on the trail.

The best fit

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These boots were comfortable from the very moment I put them on! I didn't get any hot spots or blisters and they fit the shape of my foot really well. I don't have narrow feet so these were perfect, and they stood up to the humidity and hikes that I endured in Costa Rica!

Great boot!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I usually hike in trail runners or low top hiking shoes but tried these out to wear on snowy hikes. I strapped my microspikes on these and had a great time! The support was nice to have and they kept my feet nice and warm! They're not insulated so I just wore them with wool socks and being waterproof, my feet stayed dry and warm! I'm usually a 7.5 and that's the size I got. I typically size up a half size in hiking shoes since my feet tend to swell, but since I was planning on wearing these in cold weather, the 7.5 worked great.

LOVED these!

I have wide feet and usually have issues with finding brands that fit my fallen arch. This pair fits perfectly though! I wore them snowshoeing and loved the coverage they provide, their light weight, and how waterproof they are!

Waterproof but uncomfortable.

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I demoed these boots snowshoeing. They were ULTRA waterproof. It was snowing so hard and my feet were totally dry after 2+ hours. They were uncomfortable, however. Keen is a very wide shoe brand, and I have a wide toe box but everything else on my feet are fairly normal. They felt like they were sliding around, and hitting a pressure point so my feet were in a lot of pain on a very easy trail. I do feel they fit true to size, though. If you have wider feet, and need a bad ass hiking boot that keep you dry I would recommend these.

Great shoe for all year round

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I have several pairs of these, so obviously I'm a very happy customer. These have the right amount of support and are sized true to fit. They work great in all conditions -- I use them hiking in the summer as well as with snowshoes in the winter. They are waterproof but don't make your feet feel soupy and all sweaty during the summer months.

Great Trail Cruiser

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Please email or call me if you need help finding the right hiking boot! I used these boots on a rainy 10-mile hike in Eastern Nevada this spring and was impressed by the features. The shoes were superbly waterproof. We trekked through water, snow, and about 1.5 hours of rain during the day and my toes stayed nice and dry. The fit for my foot was good out of the box - I have a wide forefoot and a narrow ankle and the shape definitely fit. I did not particularly like the insole provided by Keen. It felt strange on my midfoot and was uncomfortable by the end of the hike. The design is supposed to relieve pressure on your metatarsals but I don't need/like the feel of it. I did get blisters on my heels from the boots which I don't think is something that will "break in" over time. The materials are all high quality and I think this boot is best suited for someone with a less wildly/dramatically tapered foot than my own. This hiker is built to perform best as a day hiker. I don't see it being a backpacking boot. It's stiff enough to be comfortable on variable terrain but I don't think there is enough stiffness nor enough cushion to support you + your pack on a multiday trek.

Please

I have worn 2 pair of Targhee iis for just less than one year. I trade every day so they would last longer, or so I thought. They are pulling away from the sole. I walk residential/commercial gas lines/service lines to gas meter/ck the gas meter for leaks and come back to gas main. I walk all day long. I don't know how you can say these are waterproof. If I walk the shoulder of a road or across the grass lawn, I am changing socks 1X and sometimes 2X cause they are soaking wet. If the boot was waterproof, why are my socks wet? On the plus side, I did not have to buy Redi-Thotic insoles to make the boot comfortable. They were very comfortable.
