Why We Like The Targhee III Mid Leather Waterproof Hiking Boot
The Men's Targhee III Mid Leather Waterproof Hiking Boot is Keen's answer to any trail that's considered difficult. Not only does it have the stability and support for hiking rough terrain, but it also has the waterproof, breathable protection required for hiking in variable conditions. The leather exterior is as rugged as the mesh lining is cushy and breathable, and Keen treated the interior to reduce odor buildup over time. The rubber sole features multi-directional lugs to ensure traction on the downhill as well as the uphill.

Great shoes
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Comfortable, flexible and pain free even after a long days work. The only downside is that Keen doesn’t do exchanges so by the time I got the fit just right, I ended up paying full price for some shoes that I originally purchased on sale.

Comfy and light weight
Im in the hvac industry. I’ve been wearing Keen for years. I can usually get 2 years out of pair. I prefer the lightweight comfort and flexibility over traditional work boots. Once broken in they are like a old pair slippers

So good I own 4 pairs
I suffer from wide feet, and I work outdoors in four seasons traversing asphalt and gravel/hard pack. Mortal shoes don’t survive but a few months before soles tear and leak. I stumbled upon Keen and decided that the Targhee III would be my trial. Where have these boots been all of my life!!❤️ Fit out of the box was outstanding with great support and actual room for EEE width. Traction in all seasons - solid construction (recycled no less!).

Very Comfortable, but not good for wet conditions
I bought these in April 2023, and it's now April 2024, so I've had them approximately 1 year. My first impression was they are incredibly comfortable. I wear them mainly for dog walking and hikes in the British countryside, where it is wet and muddy for most of the year. For a number of reasons (weather, new job, poor health) I didn't wear them a much until February/March this year, but now that I am wearing them a lot I am noticing their shortcomings. Firstly the sole is easily overwhelmed by mud, making them quite slippy. Secondly they have a tendency to retain moisture and take much longer than other boots of a similar style do to dry. I do clean and maintain my boots, but these are starting to deteriorate fairly quickly now and despite my best efforts they smell quite bad too. I can see the toe bumper beginning to peel away from the upper and small gaps are starting to appear down each side of each boot on both inner and outer portions near the ball of my foot. The heal area inside is beginning to fray too, so could do with either a stronger lining or a counter. I will now relegate these boots to occasional use in dry conditions. A simple hike on Malham Cove proved too much for them and while the lining is intact and my feet stayed dry, the fabric soaked up a lot of water, despite being waterproofed 24 hours prior to the hike. Conditions were muddy with some unavoidable puddles, but it didn't rain that day so it's not like I was walking in torrential rain for hours. I've had other boots that cope with these conditions no problem and dry out much quicker. Overall I'm disappointed. A very comfortable boot, with design flaws. Perhaps it's just not designed for UK conditions and would work better in drier climates, but I've mostly worn them on woodland paths with the occasional puddle. it's only been a handful of times where I've got them really muddy and wet. I also have to question Keen's green credentials here as it looks like non of their products can be resoled, despite a big effort being placed on sustainability on the product pages, and claims that the Targhee IV is the last boot you will ever need - sorry but the sole will wear out, even if the uppers don't split first, and you will need to buy a new pair of boots. I doubt I could get more than 6 months out any Keen boots on typical UK hiking. Keen, if you think I am wrong please get in touch.

Good boots but not waterproof
I bought these because the toe box was great while fitting them. They are good boots but please don't call them waterproof because they are not. My socks at the toes are always wet after a walk in grass that is either heavy with dew or after a rain storm.

Don’t wear well.
Love these boots for as long as the last. Very comfortable and water proof. But they wear out quickly. Same place on both pair.

Avoid!!!!
These are really, really poorly made shoes. Mine are falling apart after 8 weeks. Disgraceful.

Unbelievable comfort
I have never had boots so comfortable. It feels like my feet are surrounded by soft cushions, yet when hiking, the boots feel very rugged. A perfect combination!

I got this pair no long ago and already ripped from the bottom. I'm very disappointed with the quality.
