Chandler CNX Hiking Shoes
The Keen Boys' Chandler CNX Hiking Shoes keep feet cool and comfortable while they run around the neighborhood attached to adventurous little boys. The breathable mesh uppers and linings allow air to flow freely through the shoes to keep little feet cool and comfortable on the trail. Keen's lace capture system and contoured arches provide a secure fit and plenty of support. The finishing touch, the non-marking, multi-directional traction outsoles, provide lots of traction outside without signing the floor inside.

I know, I know...we usually love KEEN
2 months is not the typical lifespan of even the cheapest shoe in my house. The child I purchased the shoe for is my indoor/artsy kid who always outgrows shoes rather than destroys them. Here's the deal: the strap that holds the bungee lacing together is WOVEN loosely in and out, all the way around the shoe RATHER than being sewn to the sides of the shoe. When you walk and flex your foot, it causes friction that leads to the eventual fraying and breaking of the strap - rendering the bungee laces useless. The fraying on my son's shoe happened just under the outside ankle - not the inside ankle where normal friction occurs (when two feet rub together). This design flaw could be easily corrected if the strap were sewn to the shoe rather than being woven and floating loosely so that it constantly rubs and eventually breaks. Of course, the warranty department at Backcountry thinks this is our fault, so we're going to KEEN directly. Next time we go to REI and buy in store - and I'll think twice before blindly trusting a brand again. It's an expensive lesson when you have multiple kids to clothe!

Just looking at other KEEN kid's shoes, the Jasper style lace up would totally alleviate this problem.

Keen Shoes are awesome! My boy wore his first pair of Chandlers everyday for close to a year. He grew out of them before the were truly worn out.

Great For An Adventure Kid!
I bought these as a gift for my little brother and he loves them! He took them on a family trip out to Colorado and Utah where they got put to the test hiking and doing some pretty intense mountain biking. They held up really well and he says they kept his little feet really comfortable and his feet didn't overheat even when hiking in Southern Utah's crazy hot weather. He's a pretty hardcore kid and puts some rough miles on his shoes but these seem like they're going to hold up for quite some time!

Great outdoor shoes. And not only outdoor but an all terrain shoes for any occasion,, place or time. Since the first time my kids put them in, he fell in love with them, he gets them wet or muddy, the dirt washes right off. They look trendy and these shoes for an active boy are the shoes to go for!! they will last.

Perfect for picky feet
My five year old has wide, long feet. These shoes are the perfect bright color for him while being super comfortable. And, unlike, many children's shoes, they seem really sturdy and we'll made. They are a breeze to get on and off. Sometimes he can't quite push the "button" in on the bungee enclosure, but I think he just wants someone else to do it most of the time...

Keen boys shoes
Really like these. 12 year old boy with autism loves how these hug his feet. He is into the big sizes and doesn't like to tie, slip on seemed to big. These were perfect for him. He hikes, climbs, runs and wears them to school.
