My favorite go to pair
Comfy, virtually no break in period needed. Look great with jeans or khakis! Still haven’t given up my old pair, just needed something newer for work and going out.

Lost Potential
I bought my first pair of Austins and thought I had found a shoe i could buy over and over again. With the generous toebox and general design they were great walking shoes. Then I bought my second pair. Unfortunately, there has been a drastic decline in quality. Similar to another review, I find the shoe stiff and this pair (same exact size) causing the tongue to dig into one of my feet. The leather on this same shoe discolored and they wore out much faster. This shoe could be a "go-to" shoe for many, but instead is an example of failed potential. Please fix the tongue, leather quality, and provide a tad more cushioning to lessen impact and this shoe will once again be what it first promised to be.

The area around the ankle
The area around the ankle has been re-designed and sticks out and cuts into ankle. I have been purchasing the Austin shoe for over 15 years. It should be okay, but will take time to break in so I do not get blisters on ankle.

Love these shoes, NEVER DISCONTINUE THE AUSTINS!
Keen: NEVER DISCONTINUE THIS SHOE!!! There are thousands of us out there who will just keep buying this shoe as their go-to for everyday wear. The one suggestion I can make for improvement is that it would be nice to get a version that is Gore-tex lined. For obvious reasons, I would never hike in them, but on a few occasions, I got them wet and ended up dealing with mildew issues that I was never quite able to resolve (tried everything). With today's shoe tech, this could be an easy solve. These shoes are comfortable all day and are the only ones that go with everything I wear. Perfect timeless design!

Cons now outweigh Pros.
Love the way they feet and feel. But the laces that come with them don’t last long, and the “two part sole/tread” separates, making them noisy on wet surfaces, and slippery. I’m also disappointed they no longer make a waterproof version. I’m on my 3rd pair, but don’t plan on buying more Austin.

Keen changed their sizing
I have owned Keens for years. My last few purchases have been too narrow. I know my feet haven't gotten substantially bigger because I found a pair of shoes from years ago with the price tag still on them, and they fit fine. I read that the Austins have the original fit, so tried them. My original size is too narrow. A half size up is better in the toes, but too narrow in the middle. I might be able to stretch them, but before I void the warranty I am going to try 1 1/2 sizes up. Meanwhile, my original size of some styles of Keen sandals still fit. Love love love them. Keen support confirmed over the phone that sizes changed recently. So in general Keen is smaller nowadays and pretty inconsistent with its sizes. Since my feet are freakishly big, I guess they wanted to appeal to the norm more and increase sales. But I wish they'd kept some models with the original sizes and shapes.
