I love this jacket and can't wait to wear it throughout the Fall. I always see jackets in Black, Navy and Olive - I love the unique Tobacca color. The plaid lining is also a nice touch. As for the fit, I love that the arms/shoulders are roomy enough to comfortably wear a sweater thunderhead.

not for tall girls

Size Bought
large

I am 6 feet tall and 170lbs and the sleeves were way too short. the body is not fitted and is sort of boxy. i contemplated returning for a smaller size to suit my body but knew that i didnt want a 3/4 length sleeved jacket - moral of the story not for tall girls.

I get so many compliments about the style of this jacket, but its comfort, warmth, and functionality are just as great. The hood is fantastic for snow and rain, flips up easily and stays in position, does not flop over my eyes. Love the zipper + buttons closure design for extra wind protection. I sized up a little so layering doesn’t make me feel like an overstuffed sausage, even bundled into a car. The adjustable waist and wrists function well. I love waxed coats and plan to re-wax as needed. Also Backcountry has phenomenal customer service, will be shopping for all my outdoor gear here from now on.

Love this jacket, perfect for working on my property or hiking, caring for my animals. ONE BIG DRAWBACK, the care label states that it can only be spot cleaned, never use the washer, never use the dryer, and do not dry clean. Never have seen this before!

I love this jacket and wear it all the time for the past 3 years. My super broke which sucks. I’ve washed it a few times. And I’m sure that removes any waxed waterproofing coating. Drying it seems to warm the zippers but not too bad. When i wash it now I just don’t dry it But that is a terrible draw back to it. I still use it all the time and it fits me perfectly

I live in northern WI, and this has proven to be a great fall and spring jacket. I originally bought the tan color in an XS (I’m 5’4 110lbs), and it fits great and is very stylish. I’ve had it for about a year and had no issues with quality. I remember seeing hit and miss reviews about the quality and was a bit skeptical, but I’m thankful I went for it. All of the Kavu products I’ve purchased have held up quite well! I’m excited to get the black one. They are both gorgeous, fit well, and are a perfect weight for fall. Highly recommend!

Disappointed

I loved the look of this jacket and the fit right away. But it ripped by the pocket in the first couple of weeks and it shrunk quite a bit after the first wash.

The button on the back came off within the first couple months of owning it. Looks really nice but didn’t hold up.

Great quality, thick durable canvas, cute plaid liner, and the hood strings/pulls are a cute touch! I love that you have multiple snap options on the back waistline to tighten it up a little. it fits great with a thick sweater underneath (ordered XS). Highly recommend!

Complete fuzz attractor

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit:
True to size

I love the fit of this jacket but I’m so disappointed in the unbeatable fuzz the jacket attracts. Lint rolling is nearly pointless because the fuzz just comes back and is impossible to remove completely. The jacket even takes the fuzz from the lining along the zipper and inside. I wouldn’t rebuy this jacket in black Because of this. It is really a rip off ☹️ Wish I purchased the Orvis jacket instead.

Ordered this jacket around Thanksgiving of this year. Have received nothing but compliments since I got it. Today the zipper came apart at the bottom. To fix it one would need to replace the entire zipper. So disappointing!!! It’s the perfect weight and wind resistance for a California winter w/ fleece hand warmers. Can easily layer underneath it. Everything a girl would want!

This coat is stylish and repels rain really well due to the waxed canvas. The plaid lining is a great pop of color to the black coat, and the button details are brassy and lovely. The pockets are lined with a low pile fleecey material and really soft--and the right location for your hands to fit without putting your arms at an awkward angle. Sleeves are long enough for my gangly arms. It is kind of heavy and seems substantial, HOWEVER, this coat is NOT warm. It is perfect for fall, and best in raw weather to be paired with a lightweight midlayer (like the ventrix) in order to be comfortably warm outside for periods of time (without looking stuffed/puffy). I ordered the small so I could layer under, but still ended up moving that decorative(/functional?) snap belt in the back on the tighter setting in order to give it a little more shape. It bunches a little in the back now, but the fit is better (aka: not form fitting but skims the curves in a comfortable, correct, outdoorsy jacket way). All in all, a cute fall coat for around town :)

This jacket looks great and is nice for an autumn day. After about 6 months of wearing the jacket, the zipper started to disconnect easily if I bent over. When this happens, it's difficult to reconnect the zipper, which is necessary to remove the jacket (although I've definitely pulled it over my head when I get frustrated). This jacket is snug at the hips (I wear size 8 or 10 pants and have the large jacket), which I'm guessing contributed to the zipper issues. I still wear the jacket a year later, but have to be very aware of the zipper when I'm sitting down or leaning over.

I adore this coat. I've worn it all winter in Pittsburgh, PA. I get hot easy so heavy winter coats aren't for me! This looks great on, it has a slimming shape to it, and it feels like a bit of a Carhart jacket! Initially when i got it the zipper broke but Backcountry replaced it immediately and I've had no issues since.

My girlfriend loves this coat. Initially purchased a Medium, but it was a tad tight throughout the body and shoulders. She went up to a Large and the jacket remains a slimmer fit, but provides enough breathing room.

Are the sleeves lined? Thanks!

Can this jacket be dry cleaned if it is...

Can this jacket be dry cleaned if it is spot clean only?

Spot Cleaning essentially means that there is no safe way to wash the item. If you have a good dry cleaner or know of one, it's always best to take any clothing with that label into them to see if they can take care of the cleaning for you, or if they can point you in the direction of someone who can. Spot Cleaning can be tricky and it's best done by people who have the right tools and experience to take care of it. I hope that helps!
