As other hats wither and droop in the elements, Kavu's Chillba Hat stands strong.

Kavu's Chillba Hat protects your head from rain, sun, and friendly splashes on your summer river trip. Secure the Chillba Hat in place using Kavu's drawcord chinstrap. Constructed out of durable nylon and closed cell foam, the Chillba won't sink even if it takes a swim through some rapids.

Barry Barr, KAVU Founder & President shares the origin of the Chillba. The Chillba stands out in the sunhat community giving you 1000% sun protection, not guaranteed. Test it yourself! This furiously functional KAVU sun hat has roamed the globe defending humans domes from UV rays since the mid 90's. Sit back, Chillba out and let Barry you tell you how the sun hat legend was born.

    Great hat!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Wore this hat the first day after getting it and man did I fall in love! Its adjustable and fit my head with room left (something that hardly ever happens) and kept the sun out of my face all day. Highly reccomend

    Kavu Chillba Hat

I'm a huuuge fan of Big Trouble in Little China, and when I saw a hat similar to the thunder god's, I had to have it! The Chillba hat is very comfortable to wear. It does not collapse for packing, so you'll have to wear it when you travel on a plane. Make sure you're ready to throw down, because people will point and make fun of you, if you beat their ass while wearing this hat, you are a pimp. Good Luck!

      rock this hat

Okay so I have had this hat for a few years and think it's great for a lazy day in the sun. It cinches down to hold steady in the wind and great protection for a beach day. It has also been handy as a rain hat solution. This hat provides great coverage and it's better then the same old same, old bucket hats. More for the extroverts as people will approach you to ask questions.

        Chill hat...

I got this hat b/c I have Lyme Disease from getting bitten by a deer tick in Charlottesville VA while Mtn Biking... I am on Doxycycline and it makes you "allergic" to the sun... then I moved to San Diego (land of tons of sun) and needed to be able to go out during the day. This hat works well and is a definite conversation piece. I almost wish it were a little larger than it actually is... pretty cool though.

I'm going to Costa Rica and need a hat that will protect from sun and rain. Will this do the trick? Oh, and, any chance you can send me a pic of you--or someone--in it? Really need to see what it might look like on before I commit... Thanks!

I want a hat that protects from the sun, but does not flatten my hair. How does the netting work? How much of the netting rests on the top of your head? How tight is it with the chin strap on so it won't blow off?

What is the width at the brim. I want to replace my current gardening hat with something larger, and feel like a ninja while doing so.

I'm afraid to say it is really not travel-friendly. I brought it to Costa Rica with me and it was slightly mis-shapen on arrival. But on my return home, it came out sort of a mess. Not sure I can return it to its original shape.

Don't you feel like a moron wearing it?

Don't you feel like a moron wearing it?

I'll stick with my booney, but I don't see anything moronic about wearing this hat. I've held one of these and it looked up to the advertised tasks. Some people like being different, that's all.

If it looks stupid, but it works, it ain't stupid. Bicycle helmets look pretty goofy too.
Just take for example all the jackasses who shave their heads nowadays. Maybe somebody told the first guy to do that he looked like a moron. No doubt he had a sudden epiphany just after the bald guy grabbed him by the hair and smashed his face into the bar.
