Interceptor Helmet

Back for another year, Kali Protectives' Interceptor Helmet keeps pushing to keep craniums safe. With the same cut and fit as last year, the Interceptor offers you deep coverage for big crashes, and huge amounts of ventilation, so riding in the hottest of climates is more bearable. And while breathability is nice, keeping us safe is more important, and Kali's Lower Density Layer (LDL) technology takes the cake there. LDL utilizes strategically placed Armourgel padding throughout the interior of the helmet, in effort to reduce rotational forces and minimize the low-g linear forces associated with sub-concussive impacts.

The key to Armourgel's utility is a vinyl nitrate compound that Kali dubs "Bumper Fit", which acts similarly to the D30 padding found in high-end body armor. It's compliant when at rest, serving as a memory foam to increase comfort and reduce hot spots. Upon impact, Armourgel hardens to help dissipate force and provide a dose of extra protection compared to standard-construction helmets. Kali claims that LDL reduces low-g linear forces up to 30% and reduces rotational impact forces up to 25%, which means you can hit the trail with added peace of mind that you're rolling with some of the best protection currently available for trail helmets.

  • Innovative protection elevates this trail-ready helmet
  • LDL tech aims to reduce rotational and low-g linear impact forces
  • Durable shell construction with EPS foam shields from impacts
  • Large vents promote cooling airflow
  • Extended coverage at the back of the head increases protection area
  • Highly adjustable BOA dial retention system
  • Adjustable visor shades from the sun and fends off errant branches
  • Accessory mounting system for lights and other devices
  • Item #KAP001K

The Best Protection.

I've put it through the wringer

I have ridden exclusively with the Kali Interceptor for the better part of three years. I love it so much in-fact, that I have owned two! I have tried so many of the popular helmet brands and Kali has consistently stood out to me. Their technology and overall promise sits with me so strongly, let me tell you why... Kali uses a Composite Fusion process that bonds the helmet shell and foam, creating a thinner, lighter shell, that can significantly reduce the chance of trauma. Lighter - PLUS. SuperSafe - PLUS. Another KEY feature that stands out right away is the Low Density Layer or LDL that's placed throughout the interior of the helmet - called the Bumper Fit. It's a substance similar to D30 and hardens on impact, helping to offer some low-G protection. The LDL reduce rotational forces up to 25%, and low-G linear forces up to 30%. This is huge. Real talk - the fit is great and adjustable, it's light and safe, and hey it doesn't look half bad! LAST POINT - Lifetime Crash Replacement

Great enduro helmet

I've used it several times

I read many reviews from different sites before buying this helmet and they essentially all had two similar complaints. First, the visor felt flimsy and second the cushions would not stick or stick properly. However, I know that Kali is known for innovation in terms of protective gear and said complaints was not going to hold me back from buying this helmet. I live in Texas where it's super hot and I'm coming from a Giro Switchblade modular full face/enduro and while I love this helmet it's just way too hot for Texas summer. Also the Giro Switchblade is on the heavier side so something lighter is always nice. I prefer the enduro helmet designs simply for the coverage they offer to the back of the head. I really liked how the Kali Interceptor was well ventilated which was my #1 priority and also lighter. As for the visor it does make it feel "cheap quality" though I have ran into branches and has been resilient thus far so i can't really complain about that. Lastly, in regards to the cushions they do tend to move around a bit but I do sweat a lot so there's that. However, I feel like it's easy to find a solution to prevent the padding from moving but up until now they shift a little but it's easy to find a solution and prevent them from moving. All in all, I have been enjoying this helmet but I'm giving it 4* because I feel that for the price it shouldn't have these "issues".

True to size

The initial appeal to this helmet was that it has a longer tail to it than many other helmets on the market. Having now worn it a great deal, it's still my favorite feature about it, as the back of the head is such a sensitive part. The weight of this model was a bit more than I had expected, but the mesh lining the vents was a great added feature when an unexpected bee tries to work it's way in! All in all the helmet would be a great addition to anyone's ride. The ventilation is great, and the added features make it not only a safe bet, but a safe helmet (see what I did there?). Small/Medium Runs Small

I returned this product before using it

I have put in a lot of rides in a Kali Maya, and get a good fit on my round-ish 57cm head from the small/medium in that helmet. I tried the Kali Interceptor helmet in small/medium, which Kali say will fit a 54-58cm head. I could fit it on my head, but the retention system was all the way open and still snug. I often wear a skullcap under a helmet, which would not be an option without going to the largest size. The Interceptor seems like a well-sorted helmet, but would not recommend the small/medium to a rider with a head larger than 55 or 56cm in circumference.

Light and airy

I returned this product before using it

Light and airy but the visor is very cheap feeling. Super flimsy. for this price point, the finish and visor should have been better. Disappointed.
